I couldn't find Paula's Bert's Fried Chicken recipe in my cookbook so I tried this one. Yum! I'd never made fried chicken before and this recipe did not disappoint. My mother said this was the best chicken leg (specifically she'd ever had. I will definitely make this again.

This was my first time ever making fried chicken but it won't be my last! I did add seasoned salt to the flour which was delicious and I also did a trick that a friend from the South told me about - double dip the chicken. I marinated it overnight in buttermilk, dipped it in the egg wash, then the self rising flour, back in the egg, then the flour again...it was an extra crispy extra delicious treat! Thank you Paula!

This recipe has got to be the most delicious recipe I have ever had for fried chicken, not to mention one of the most simple. I added a little paprika to the flour batter before coating the chicken, and I have honestly never tasted any fried chicken as good as that chicken was.

This is the most FANTASTIC fried chicken recipe I have ever made. Thank you Paula for sharing this with us. I thought the hot sauce was going to be too much, but it was perfect!!

i have a fried chicken recipe that my husband's grandmother use to make and i thought that it was the best in the world untill i tried this one. i did it a little different though i used the house seasoning on the chicken in the fridge for a couple of days like grandma did with just salt and it just made it all the better becasue you can taste the seaoning all through the meat.

My mother would make me potatoe soup as a young child, and this recipe is as close as it gets (minus the rivals. Also I did not use shrimp, yet it still taste fabulous. Also I finished mine off in the crock pot.

Very good chicken and very easy. For those of you that are saying the chicken is too salty, I do not think Paula's recipe meant to use the whole amount of House Seasoning on one chicken. She was just giving the recipe so you could make a batch to use when needed. A tablesppon or so is all you need!!! If the saltiness is all you didn't like, try it again using a lot less of the House Seasoning.. Thanks again Paula for maiking recipes so easy and good.
