My husband and two teenage boys loved the steaks! I have never seen them so quite at the table before. Thanks for the recipe. My family said it was a keeper.

This recipe is delicious. Thank you for having """A REAL CHEF""""" on our Prime Time here in San Antonio. We have been disappointed with Melissa taking up our prime time. Paula is a wonderful cook.

I too did not know what is a "shell" steak. From http://www.culinarycafe.com/Meat_Dishes/Steak_Glossary.html:

    "Shell
Steak, or Strip Steak: When the tenderloin strip has been removed from the short loin, the remaining meat is known as a shell steak. Shell steaks are called by a variety of names, such as strip, New York strip and Kansas City strip. Ideal for one person, these steaks can be cut in any thickness you wish, usually from 1 to 2 1/2 inches. Lobel's Prime Meats often remove the bone for their customers so the steak can be easily sliced on the diagonal."

I haven't tried this steak recipe yet, but I'm going to today.

My review may not count because I don't know what a shell steak is. I used porterhouse and they were great. My whole family raved about them, very tender and flavorful. I've never used a dry rub on a steak, but I'll continue to use it. Maybe when I find out what a shell steak is I'll try the recipe again.

I thought it was great. I did however change the rub alittle,
I only used about a 1/2 tsp oregano and I used about 1/2 tsp of garlic powder instead of the rubbing the garlic clove.
I used strip steaks instead of the big thick ones, as that is what i had on hand. Will make again.

On TV you and your son were in love with this dish. But I thought it was pretty good but not as good as you put it out to be. But you probally make it better because its your recipe! Thanks for the recipe though!

I plan to try this recipe very soon now that the warmer weather is getting here and can put it on the grill. I just have to say how much I thoroughly enjoy watching Paula cook with her sons! They seem to genuinely enjoy each and it's just a breath of fresh air. I have 4 boys and hope as they get to be older (oldest is 21 we will enjoy the same kind of time together. Will let you know how the steak turns out. Looks delish!
