my husband, Rick, made these peas for a potluck dinner our friends loved them. I made cracklin cornbread to go with it, and of coarse my southern razin, i had to bring fresh green onions. Everyone enjoyed !!exspecially my husband !!!

We like black eyed peas but this was a wonderful change. On New Year's Day I am always eating my black eyed peas and stewed tomatoes - this was a great variation. Will definitely keep this in my recipe collection to fix again.

This was so super easy to make, and they turned out really great. I left out the onion in the recipe and garnished with diced red onion, the bacon and some leftover roasted chicken.

This is the best recipe for black eyed peas that I have ever tried. My husband is Georgia born and raised...he raved about this recipe! I bought a bag of fresh frozen peas that had snap peas mixed in (frozen section at Wal-Mart. I added one can of chicken broth and then enough water to cover...I also added a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little extra kick. Cooked for about 1 1/2 hours. The crumbled bacon on top was fantastic! A definate keeper.

Hi Paula, this is a great recipe, however, I kicked it up a notch by adding some cayenne pepper. The other thing is the recipe calls for WAY too little water. I did the three cups, and actually wound up using 5 cups, which also means that you need to use more spices. That said...it's still a great recipe.
