I've just made this for the second time. Previous reviewers are correct that the cake only needs to cook for 45-50 minutes. I also almost doubled the sugar & cinnamon amounts. I made a second version with chocolate chips for someone who can't have pecans. Can't wait to taste it.

I liked this "breakfast in bed" episode so much I decided to snag the recipe online and bookmark it (however, Paula made the entire breakfast then went back to eat it which was not exactly my idea of breakfast in bed! LOL. I made it today and was glad I did, it's really good. I mistakenly bought low fat sour cream but it didn't seem to matter--and used canola since I did not have corn oil--still, no problem. I also cut back a bit on the sugar for the crumb mixture. It was easy to make. I have a very heavy commercial type tube pan (not a bundt and the cook time was more like 40 minutes. Be careful, as an hour really seems excessive for this. It was moist and delish, but had I baked it for an hour it would have been burnt and ruined. I like that idea of a little glaze--I froze half the cake and may do that when I serve that half. Easy to do and what a great brunch cake this would be! I will definitely be making this again.

I just saw a rerun of Paula's show with this cake being made & knowing that I just so happened to have a spice cake in my pantry already...I dropped everything I was doing & made this oh so EZ cake.(I was going to use the spice cake to make some pumpkin shaped cakes for Halloween like FoodNetwork Mag has... but just couldn't wait after viewing this...I used my mini bundt pans instead and made a little xtra nut & sugar mixture as Paula's cake looked a little dry in center & I like it more gooey.I also made a nice simple glaze for the tops just like you would for cinnamon buns.I work for a great restaurant & I have to be there @ 6:30 in the morning, tomorrow & will be bringing the guys in the kitchen these little gems so we can start our day out great!!!! Thanx Paula! These will definitely be in my regular go to list...

I thought this cake was going to taste like a regular sour cream coffee cake but the spice cake really adds to the flavor! Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews until now, but luckily, I have made similiar coffee cakes and knew one hour was too long. I baked the cake for 50 min. and it came out perfect! It's a cinch to make and taste delicious. Definitely a keeper!!

This Cinnamon Cake is the only cake my son likes. I used to buy the Cinnamon Strusel cake mix when he was small and since they have quit making it, I use your receipe and so still can keep the tradition of this cake for his birthday.
I am so glad you had this on your show one day as I was not sure what I would do as he does not like regular birthday cake.
This is delicious, moist and my entire family loves it.
Thanks

I'm not sure if it is was my fault because I used somebody elses oven or if the baking time if wrong because my cake was burnt. I have been baking over 30 years and this was a first for me. So I dunno know, but the inside of the cake was really good. So I made another one making sure I didn't burn it and it was perfect. I put a cream cheese glaze over it and my family thought it was delicious so it is now on a rotation. I don't know where I got the idea of the cream cheese glaze from, but it takes it over the top. I just made a basic cream cheese icing for carrot cakes, but I made about half the amount and thinned it out with some milk and drizzled it over the cake....Divine!

Really good BUT... 4 stars because I had to modify the recipe. I doubled the sugar, cinnamon, and pecans. Replaced the oil with 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce. Reduced the cook time to 50 mins and the last 15 mins covered with foil, so the nuts did not burn. *** DO NOT over bake ***

this was not hard to make- just took a little time to prepare- but I made it one time, entered it in the county fair and won Champion!!!!! Yah!!!!!!! It it delish!!! I probably doubled the middle layer of sugar/pecans so that there was plenty- and I topped with a basic white glaze drizzled all over. LOVE the fact that it starts with a mix! and I LOVE to watch Paula's shows!
