My family loved this recipe for July 4th. I've tried other versions, but this was the best. I used fresh strawberries and omitted the pineapple. I added 1/2 chopped pecans to the pretzel crust. I only used 1/2 cup of sugar - turned out great!

I tried a recipe similar to Paula's a few weeks ago and fell in love with it so I knew that I had to make it myself pretty soon. I made this for a cookout and boy was it a hit!

I would just follow everyone's suggestion below...they helped me out a lot. Just one more thing-make sure that you use an incredibly sturdy pan or you'll make a HUGE mess! Trust me...I learned the hard way! ;o

    Happy Eating!!

This is a great picnic dessert! I make mine with sugar-free cherry or raspberry jello, I rinse and well drain crushed pineapple. I use fat-free cool whip and reduced fat cream cheese...in place of the sugar I use agave sweetner...so good no one knows it is sugar-free! This is one of my favorites & others too!

I've made this dessert from a different recipe in the past, but it didn't call for pineapple. I love the addition. I doubled the recipe for a group gathering. It was very well received.

Thanks Paula once again for a fabulous dish! So easy to make and such wonderful flavor and texture. The pineapple was a nice add-in I haven't had before. My guests can always guess that the great dishes I make are "Paula Dean?!" Wonderful salad I will certainly make again.

I made this for a school luncheon. . . the next luncheon that was held I was "voluntold" to make it again! Now it is my "go to" recipe when a dessert is needed! (I know it is called "salad", but I use it for dessert.

This came out SO beautifully and SO delicious, my family and I have decided that I will never make any other dish for potlucks or get-togethers! It looks so fabulous and tastes even better! Do follow previous reviewers suggestions and make sure that each layer is cool all the way, and the cream cheese layer makes a good seal all the way around the pan...then enjoy the raves of your family and guests!

This one sure didn't last long in my house. It came out beautifully with all the additional tips from previous reviews. I'm sure I'll be making this one again and again. Thanks Paula!

Love this recipe! I do make a few changes. I use fresh strawberries. I put the pretzels and melted buttter in the food processor to crush. I've tried putting them in a bag and using a hammer to crush but the food processor works better. Use wax paper to press the pretzel crust flat before baking. Drizzle extra butter on top if pretzel mix is too dry. This helps it stick together. Sprinkle sugar over pretzels before baking. Make sure you let it cool completely. When you put the whipped cream/ cream cheese mixture on make sure you have a tight seal around the pan. I had a leak once and the whole thing was ruined. The pretzels turned into a soggy mess. I put it in the freezer after I put it on and let the jello cool completely on the stove. Once the cream cheese/ whipped cream is stiff (not completely frozen I pour the jello mixture on top & put in the fridge. Everyone loves this recipe!
