Amazing! I made this during the holidays after my husband bought an abundance of strawberries from the produce market. We absolutely loved it! I followed the recipe to a T. In the future I will use whipped cream cheese as the original was hard to incorporate into the other ingredients as it was so thick.

I made this originally for a co-worker for her birthday. Now everyone asked me to make it for their birthdays! It's a fantastic dessert that "hits the spot". I doubled the glaze recipe, including the water but not the sugar, or it will be way too sweet. If you haven't tried this recipe, trust me, you can't go wrong. It's D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!

This was DELICIOUS but I did make quite a few changes: Used a yellow cake mix and made the cake according to instructions...after it was done, I cut it horizontally to make two layers, on the first layer I put the custard and then layered fresh sliced strawberries on top (I omitted the glaze altogether, then I put the second layer of cake on top of my cake and custard and strawberry layer...on the second layer I added a layer of custard and then a layer of sliced fresh strawberries and then added whipped cream in small dollops around the perimeter of the cake and one dollop in the middle. My husband wants this cake everyday. It is DELICIOUS and has always been a hit at any event!

    Oh So Good!!
Made this for a party and it was gone in seconds. Everybody wanted this recipe. They also request it every time. Will make it over and over again. Love the custurd it does make a huge amount so I just add more strawberries.

Made dinner for 12 and selected this recipe for the desert based on all of the positive reviews. I am an accomplished cook and followed the instructions step by step. Final product tasted like sticky sweet marshmallow fluff with floating strawberries. Ended up running to the store for ice cream and used the remaining strawberries for the topping. Ugh!

Easiest and most delicious strawberry shortcake ever and the presentation just tops it. The custard tastes to delicious combined with the fresh berry glaze and the cake. I do agree though that there is a lot of custard for this recipe and I had a bunch left over too but stored in my fridge in a covered rubbermaid container and made another strawberry shortcake a few days later. Also, yes do double the glaze as well. With some quantity tweaking, this recipe is a very delicious one. Also, I decorated the top with Chocolate covered strawberries for that extra touch of elegance, it was a hit. Thanks Paula..I can always try your recipes without the fear of how they would taste. I did this one right before a part, without ever having tried it before and Paula didn't disappoint! :

Made this for my staff at work to celebrate one who reached 20 years of service. Strawberry shortcake was her favorite, so I used this recipe. It was a HUGE hit!! Doubled the glaze per other recommendations, but not all of the sugar. Everyone raved about it. Suggest watching the video as Paula assembles it slightly different from the text of the recipe.

It was really quick and easy to make. It was light and refreshing. It tasted soooo good but the best thing is that hubby really loved it and stated that was the only way that he would eat angel food cake. I never have left overs to see how it would be for the next day. I do think that I would agree with one of the other reviewers and add extra fruit and glaze just to kick it up a bit. Thank you for posting and sharing.

This has been a hit anywhere I take it. Refreshing, not too heavy, perfect for summer. Gets better the next day. Definitely try it.
