I am not a novice when it comes to cooking, but for some reason I felt like one making this recipe. It took me over an hour to do this. I struggled with getting the lumps out of the cream cheese even though I let it soften, my angel food cake was too small so I used 2 cakes, and on and on. Anyway, I did find that I needed way more strawberries than what it calls for. I used 4 cups instead of 2 and a little more glaze than what it called for as well. After all was said and done, however, I couldn't believe how amazing this cake tasted. It was fabulous. I brought it to my mom's house for a bbq and the cake was gone in 0.5 seconds. And, amazingly, after I had refridgerated it a bit, my cream cheese wasn't lumpy anymore. In any event, I gave it five stars based on taste. If I had to base it on time and ease, I would say 4 stars. But, now that I know what I am doing with this, I would make it again. Thanks Paula!

I made this over Memorial weekend and WHOA! was this sweet. A little too sweet for me. Just by looking at the recipe I doubled the strawberries and the mixture only because it was alot of custard and cake with very little strawberries. I chilled the dish for a couple hours prior to serving. I think next time, I'll cut back on the amount of sweetened condensed milk. I have to admit, everyone loved it! This is a keeper. Thanks Paula

Very good. Makes a ton! Use a big see through dish. Cut off the brown edge so only white shows through the glass dish. Really is very sweet, take a look at the ingrediants. Definately double the strawberry mixture or it will be too skimpy. Or just double the strawberries only. The custard makes plenty, maybe too much, just the way it is written.

This recipe was ok... I will try to make it again considering all the great reviews and that it's Paula Deen... The only thing I can think of that didn't make it delicous, is the ingredients didn't have enough time to all blend together. I made it and served it with in 5 hours.????

OMG who ever knew homemade Strawberry shortcake could be this AMAZING. I prepared this for a Mothers Day Luncheon and EVERYBODY raved about how good it was! I will never make another recipe again. Thanks Paula for not only this recipe but for all your recipes! Whoever gave this recipe a bad score I think you should stick to buying premade desserts or take a cooking class. This recipe is the BOMB! I did make the angel cake using Barefoot contessa's Lemon Angel cake recipe and also doubled the strawberry glaze portion of this recipe. I will never use a different recipe for Stawberry shortcake again

I will never fix strawberry shortcake another way. This was divine! I have thrown away all my other short cake recipes and I am taking this one to the bank. A lot of recipes are not good because people skim on the seasoning for example a 1/4 tsp of salt for a whole pot of beans. That person can't cook. We need flavor. This recipe has flavor. I can't wait til Christmas, it is my Christmas dessert. Thanks Paula!
