I love Paula Deen recipes, but this one was good for the garbage disposal. I fixed this for Easter/my husband's birthday. It was way too sweet. I literally had to throw it away because it was unfit to eat. It wasn't just my tastebuds, but everyone that had some. I'm glad we just had family over.

Not only easy to make, it was easily compartmentalized in order to take to work, build, and display for our graduation celebration for our student worker here at ASU. He asked for strawbery shortcake w/poundcake so I substituted pound cake cubes for the angelfood cake and doubled the strawberries, doubled the glaze (used the remaining on the side adding a few blackberries for a complimentary color on top; our student worker didn't define how it was to be presented, and I had an immediate picture in my head of a trifle, and Paula Deen, you delivered a great recipe; you have never disappointed me yet! Most delicious and many compliments from the Student Financial Assistance office at Arizona State University.

Best ever. I made the sour cream pound cake instead of buying one and it was gone within minutes. I'm not a big fan of strawberry shortcake but this was very good.

The best cake I have ever ate. Let me tell you. When I first made this cake I guess back in 2008, I loved it. Instead of buying a store bought cake I made a box pound cake. It was good. Then last year I came across Paula's 5 Flovor Pound Cake recipe. Oh My GOD, it made this Strawberry Cake 10 times better. You never thought it could get any better but, it did. This cake is a hit at my Church. I usually make 2 when I take it to Church and it all get's gone faster than you can say Hey Y'all. Love it, Love it, Love it.

I never bother to go on and rate recipes, but this one deserves it! I made it for a dinner party last night, presentation was wonderful and everyone went back for seconds. I followed others suggestions to increase the whipped topping to 16oz. The only improvement I will make next time is to double the strawberry glaze recipe since the amount of glaze I had didn't provide enough to cover the 3 layers. Oh, and I also cubed the cake instead of cutting it into rings. DELICIOUS!!!

Very yummy, particularly the custard. The only thing I would change is the amount of strawberries. I think it needed at least twice as many to balance the cake and custard. It seemed to go over at my church! :

Mrs. Deen, everything you do I love. Don't ever stop!! Your recipe was great and the whole fam loved it but it was so ugly!! I think I will have everything really cold including the glass bowl before I start the layering. Thank you for teaching me how to cook!!
