this was my first foray into making donuts, and they were a hit! i had to work in quite a bit of extra flour so the dough wasn't too sticky to work with. other than that this was a piece of cake. rolled them in cinnamon sugar instead of the glaze, better for not so sweet breakfasts. thank you paula deen.

Easy to make and simply delicious.
The dough was very sticky but we let it sit before rolling which seemed to us to make it easier to handle and then rolled it out on a well floured surface.
It is not evident by the taste that sweet potatoes are in the recipe. Perhaps pureed pumpkin would be good too.

I made this recipe this morning and I will definitely make it again. I didn't have a dutch oven so I used an old pressure cooker to fry them in - it was heavy enough to keep the oil at an even temperature. I've never made doughnuts but love sweet potatoes so I thought I'd give it a try. I only had light sour cream but couldn't tell it made a difference. I also didn't have maple flavoring so I substituted 1/4 tsp vanilla and 1/4 tsp almond extract. Next time I might try Splenda for Baking instead of the sugar (since I could stand to lose a few pounds. I mixed the dough by hand and that was very tiring so next time I'll use a mixer.

Sadly, I missed the program. Paula mentions a Dutch oven. Can anyone tell me what kind of Dutch oven she used on her program? Le Creuset isn't recommended since it could hurt the enamel. Did she use a cast iron fry pan? I would sure like to try this recipe!

As a donut lover, I always want to try different donut recipe. So when I saw this and realize there is no waiting around like the yeast donut, I HAVE TO TRY IT!!

THEY ARE VERY GOOD, the taste is surprisingly good, since I have never tried anything like that before. The fact that you can get everything done in an hour or so are even better!!!!

Thank you, Paula for GREAT RECIPE!

these were very good. in the glaze i didn't use maple extract i used vanilla. they were extremely moist and much quicker and easier than yeast donuts. the recipe says that it makes 10-12 servings i got 17 and they were the same size as the ones you get from the store so they were plenty big and bigger and that would have been an over kill. over all these should get 10 stars!

Here I am sitting back at the keyboard barely one hour after finding this recipe, and not only did I complete the whole shebang in this hour...we have gluttonized ourselves with the product.
This is the best doughnut recipe I have EVER made AND the easiest.
Paula is one of the VERY few TV cooks I always try to make time to set and WATCH...her recipes are GREAT, good food for real people.
Thanks, Paula for sharing your knowledge with all of us.
