Way too much liquid in this dish. Really didn't care for it at all. The meat was drowning in liquid. I would leave out the water next time. This is nothing like the swiss steak I grew up on.

Great basic recipe. Using the suggestions of adding worcestershire sauce and beef broth instead of water, this recipe was elevated to at least four stars.
I can see creating an Italian version using plum tomatoes and some Italian spices or a Mexican version using some fresh chilies instead of bell peppers with a little cumin and or chipolti peppers in adobo sauce.
I'm such a fan of the smokey taste imparted by the chipolti/adobo blend that I will try them next time. However, I had no problem consuming the dish as prepared (above and look forward to lunch tomorrow via the left overs.
I had my preparation with a baked potato using the sauce as a topping. YUM

My family loves this recipe. Instead of Swiss Steak, I use beef tips. And, in the place of one can of water, I use one can of beef broth (and add a bit of Worcestershire sauce. We serve it over rice with french bread.

This is the best swiss steak recipe. It's easy to make and tastes great! My whole family loves it and my mom asked for the recipe.

Very disappointed. Tasted bland, and the ratio of breading to liquid made this rubbery and uninviting. Really will not make again.
