I can't believe all the good reviews. I followed the advice of those who said it was bland, but made it better by using beef broth instead of water and seasoning the steak. It still had no flavor and the steak was tough and rubbery. I definitely won't be making this again.

Delicious! I make it for my Grandfather occasionally and he (and we love it! Tender and flavorful- the only thing I add that the recipe doesn't call for is sliced carrots.

I loved this dish! Try adding 1/2 a package of onion soup/dip mix and use 1/2 can of water with 1/2 can red wine.

This our new family favorite! It's even tastier when you cook like Paula's suggestion in a crock pot. I use low heat for about 8 hours. My kids even love it.

Incredible recipe. If followed correctly produces excellent results. Meat tasty and tender, great sauce. I use my cast aluminum Dutch oven and get perfect results every time. My hubby is a Savannah boy and LOVES this over either rice or egg noodles. I make this every couple of weeks and I never see the leftovers. Thanks Paula for another great recipe. I received one of your cookbooks as a birthday gift and can't wait to try more recipes.

Very easy to make. I mixed one packet of beefy onion dried soup mix with the can of water for added flavor and used pearl onions.

It came out good, but a little runny. I cooked in more flower at the end to make the broth thicker, and my husband seemed to like it. As an alternative to mash potatoes, I put it over creamy grits and it came out surprisingly good. (check out recipe for Tyler's Ultimate grits. I searved the leftovers the next day with brown rice and brussel sprouts to my friend and she thought it was the bomb. The flavor keeps well from one day to the next so its a great time saver.
