I thought I would try my new crockpot out with this recipe. It's been cooking for 5 hours so far. I have ladled off 4 cups of the "tomato water", added oregano, parsley, more salt and pepper and it still tastes awful. The meat fell apart into little pieces. I'm still trying to see if I can save it....or it looks like I will be carrying out dinner tonight. I'm really disappointed. I don't understand how some reviews of this recipe were so good, and the rest so bad (similar to mine. No middle ground!

I didn't have cube steak for this recipe. So instead, I used Top Round Steak. It was excellent. The meat was so tender. My family said I have now raised the bar on my cooking and want more meals like this. We loved it!!!

I used Montreal Steak Seasoning to season the meat, and added 1/4 cup ketchup. Added cubed potatoes with 3 hours left to cook in crockpot. Used high setting until it was bubbling and then turned down to low. Not a bite left in the pot. Great gravy!

Watery, flavorless, and bland, but with great ingredients and promise, if altered properly. Needs beef broth instead of water, and after 4 hours, needs adding spices to taste, plus a roux of butter and flour to thicken. Otherwise it is a soup. With the above, thick and flavorful: serve over baby potatoes.

Oh my gosh ! First let me say I am not a good cook.. But, this recipe made me look like one Thanks ! I did add a can of tomato sauce(15 oz.3 beef bouillon cubes and some garlic seasoning (to taste.I used a crock pot and cooked it @8 hours.. The gravy was wonderful, the meat ok and fell apart. I think I should have paid more attention to the seasoning of the meat, and I think the meat would have had more taste.. But all in all, it was great !!!

I liked this recipe with few ingredients; things I already had at home. My husband loved it. Good without the green peppers.

A thumbs up from my seven year old, tells it all. It's rainy here in Florida, so this comfort food was right on time. I never had to search for any of the ingredients, they are every day items... very budget friendly. I'd do this again...anytime.

This was a great recipe. I made it with the meat that Paula recommended and had it cubed. I cooked it in my slow cooker for 7 hours - I did add beef broth instead of water and used a grilled seasoning on the meat - it was tasty and wonderful. Everyone loved it and wants to have it again. I will make it again.

My family loved it. I loved how simple it is to cook. It is even easier if you just by cubed steak. Thanks again Paula!
