Very disappointed. Tasted bland, and the ratio of breading to liquid made this rubbery and uninviting. Really will not make again.

I made this last night for dinner and I think I did something wrong. This was the first time I have ever attemted Swiss Steak and all the coating fell off while it was simmering. So when it was done there were pieces of the flour coating that had once been fried on, all over the bottom of the pan.

With his first bite, my husband said, "Oh boy! This is great!" He was right- it was delicious! Reminded me so much of the Swiss Steak my mom made when I was growing up. Great comfort food, served with mashed potatoes. Thanks, Paula, for the great dish and the pleasant memories.

Followed recipe exactly, except I used 2 lbs of meat to have leftovers, and it was fantastic. I may have simmered it a bit longer just because I was finishing up sides. The steak was so fall apart tender. Flavors were wonderful. Added cornstarch at the end to thicken up the "gravy". Served over rice. Yummy!

I've been looking for something to do with cubed steak besides making CFS, so when I saw this episode I watched it with interest.

I've got this cooking now. I don't care for bell peppers (regardless of color, so I omitted it, and added celery and mushrooms. I followed some of the other suggestions, and used a can of beef broth instead of the water. Smells great so the flavor should be spot-on! Hope it comes out "fork tender" like I hope. Serving it with mashed 'taters, I think.
