A little confusing at first, but I figured it out. I found mine very runny and more like soup. Next time I think I will use 2 1/2 cups of water. IT STILL HAD GREAT FLAVOR!

We just love this chili. I used deer meat and ground beef mix and its great. When I make this chili I always double it because my grand childern love it. I use a large chopped onion and beef broth also.

If you can get your hands on ground deer meat, try it.

I honestly dont understand why so many people have trouble reading this recipe. After reading all the reviews I made a few adjustments. I added a can of "mexicorn" and did two cups of beef broth instead of four cups of water. I also added a whole chopped onion because we LOVE onion in my family. I cooked it in a crock pot (to be clear, I did cook the meat first and let it simmer on low for 6 hours. I made a toppings bar with sour cream, limes, scallions, cheese and tortilla chips. Excellent recipe and I will be making it again very soon. Its even better the next day!

This was a very good taco chili! Unlike alot of others, I stuck with soaking the beans overnight. I soaked them til they were shriveled up....about 8-10 hours. Using them in this recipe however, I found that my cooking time for best results was a good simmer for 3 hours. (The beans retain their original plumpness when cooked, for those that haven't used dried beans. The prep is extremely easy...just throw it all together and wait. The only changes I made was adding a can of mexicorn to the pot and a can of diced jalapenos. It turned out wonderful. Boyfriend let me know that this recipe gets put in the box! :

When you select a 4x6" card of the recipe, the ground beef disappears, i.e. it's on the recipe but not on the card. Also, on TV Paula adds what appears to be a standard/small size of Buttermilk dressing mix but the ingredient list says 1oz. This size package is .4 oz (unless we're suppose to use a larger one, but the average size seemed perfect for taste purposes. I used ground venison and a small can of green chilies with regular tomatoes (instead of the already mixed tomatoes/chilies and it was very good.

I made this chili yesterday. It was so easy and my family loved it! I made it thicker using 2lbs of ground beef. I also added garlic salt, smoked paprika, and chipoltle chili powder to the taco chili mix. I used beef broth instead of water and used a large can of fire roasted diced tomatoes and a can of diced green chilies instead of the can of diced tomatoes with green chilies. I cooked the chii in the slow cooker and didn't have to think about it all day. I think I will use canned beans next time to make it even easier. I plan on giving the chili mix as gifts this Christmas. A winner of a recipe.
