I have been making a version of this for years that my mom made when i was a kid. I add in Kidney beans or you can add any other kind of bean and i use the meat also. I use fritos for the corn chips. I do not like that kind of dressing and so i use ranch and i don't mix it in. Just let everyone pour in there own bowl. Sometimes i make a avacodo ranch. and sometimes i use green oinions instead of othere. But this is the easiest recipe!

I have to first say that we are big fans of Paula Deen, but this recipe was a disaster. I think that they must have fantastic lighting in that kitchen studio, because this salad looked just great on tv. When we made it, though, I think we knew things had taken a turn for the worse when the whole thing took on a sickly pinkish hue after adding the Catalina dressing. I realize that I could have made some modifications, omitted the dressing etc., but as I said it looked great on tv and her recipes usually never miss. Definitely will NOT be making this one again.

My family has been making this taco salad for years but use canned beans rinsed and drained instead of the meat. My vegetarian family members appreciate this salad. It is wonderful for a light side dish or meal in the heat of Summer and travels well to parties and picnics. I mix the lettuce, cheese and tomatoes at home in large container and add the remaining ingredients before serving.

This taco salad was so tasty. Fun to make as a family. Have those who are old enough to each chop a veggie while someone cooks the meat. Ready in an instant! We changed it up a bit and cooked ground chicken instead of ground beef. We added half a pack of chili powder mix to the chicken while cooking (because we didn't have any taco seasoning. Also, we tossed in some corn. It was super tasty. My family loved it with the Catalina dressing.

when my husband seen this he was turned off.I asked him to give it a try ,well he finished almost all of it.In fact his hand was in the bowl 2 to 1 .but don`t buy generic chips, they don`t have the body name-brand ones do.Sloppy but worth it.

I made this recipe tonight for my husband and I and neither one of us cared for it. I think the catalina dressing made it way to sweet. I think I'll stick to my own recipe. Sorry Paula, you have some really great recipes like the one for your Tomato Pie but this one isn't one of them.
