After reading all of the reviews that said this was too sweet I modified the amount of sugar I used. Anywhere it called for sugar, brown or granulated I used half. I was perfect!! Just the right amount of sweetness. I also added cinnamon. The topping is crunchy and adds a nice texture. I highly recommend it now!

I'm from the south and I have to say that this is the "Best" Bread Pudding I have had. Easy to do and taste great. I've served it on several occassions and everyone wanted the recipe.

Loved it and so did my family- had been using a recipe out of an amish cook book- it was good - but the butter and sauce in this one made it special.- I added a bit of pumpkin pie spice to it like my old recipe used because old habits die hard. Paula's recipes are always reliable. This was a nice twist on an old standard comfort food.

If you try this recipe, taste it prior to adding the sauce.
Next time I will probably use about 1/4 of the sauce.

    I love this!

I used double the amount of bread called for though. I didn't have any nuts for the topping so I used oats instead and it was wonderful!

I LOVE Bread pudding and have used several different recipes. This is the best! Easy to make. I added some apples, raisins, cranberries, and cinnamon to the sugar topper along with pecans. The brandy sauce is great. This isn't too sweet. Add just a little sauce on the serving and you have a perfect dessert. Icecream is also a great topper. Thanks Paula!!!!

This was wonderful. I did change it up a bit...more bread, cut the sugar in both the mix & sauce, and added cinnamon & nutmeg to sugar mixture that's poured on before baking, cooked it a little longer. In the end, the texture was perfect & it tasted wonderful.
