VERY EASY TO MAKE, DOES SEEM LIKE A LOT OF SUGAR. I HAVE ONLY TASTED A LITTLE PIECE AND SEEMS VERY SUGAREY. I THINK MY MOTHER USE TO COOK THE CUSTARD FIRST AT LEAST TO MELT THE SUGAR AND TEMPER THE EGGS. HOPE THIS TURNS OUT AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS.

I can't believe how easy it was to make and my family just loved it. Will definately be making it again and again. Loved it!!! I usually don't keep brandy around the house, but after this bottle is gone I might try to find a substitute.

After reading some of the other reviews I figured I'd better ease up on the sugar. So I only used one cup of granulated sugar in the milk and egg mixture and used almost twice as much bread to absorb the sweetness. It turned out perfect! I also used a little more brandy :

This was a good bread pudding recipe. It was a little on the sweet side. But I would definitely make it again. The first one didn't last long in my house.

Ohhhhhh, disappointed me!!!! I could not wait to try this recipe, and then couldn't wait to dump it out. It was like eating syrupy pecans and bits of bread. Disgusting. I read the recipe beforehand and wondered about all the sugar (four cups in all and thought it seemed like a lot. Was it ever!
This is the first recipe of Paula's I've disliked and have had such success with all others. I even reread the instructions in case I added to much sugar, but I followed it exactly. This one's a dud, Paula. Sorry.

This is the best I have had. I even substituted splenda for half of the sugar. It was so delicious. I asked my husband if he thought it needed some cinnamon next time. He said it didn't need a thing! The sauce was the over the top too. sooo Yummy!!
