Great recipe. Made it once with turkey bacon. It was good but the texture of the bacon was not so great. The second time I made it with smoked bacon and it was fantastic.

I made this for Thanksgiving and they loved it! Even the non-okra fans ended up eating this yummy dish. I could eat the whole thing with a spoon!

Until I tasted this dish at a friend's house, I wouldn't eat okra, as I always found it to have a slimy texture. But this dish isn't slimy. This wonderful dish is healthy and low cal, and is so easy to prepare. It makes a great side. I omit the sugar, and add a little dried oregano and/or basil, which gives it a little extra zing. It also works fine with ham if you don't have bacon - just saute with the onion and garlic.

i made this for thanksgiving because i thought it might be nice to introduce a new vegetable to the family. most people who tried it liked it, but i LOVED it. I originally wanted to maked fried okra, but i went with this instead and i'm glad i did. I also added a little chili powder to the recipe, and it gave it a nice little kick. i ate all the leftovers!

My youngest gobbled it up in seconds and asked for more and he is neither an okra OR a tomato fan! The only things I changed were the amt of sugar and okra..I used a tsp of sugar and I added an extra half cup or so of okra.

i'm alergic to tomatoes and okra reminds me of eating cold snake. as a kid, i would have held my nose and let this dish just slide down my throat while running to get my epinephrine shot. it's like that.
