For Easter I wanted to make something different. Since I LOVE Paula I wanted to try her Lady's Cheesy Mac and Cheese. This was a hit (a little expensive but a great hit. I used all the cheese except for the Gouda. I subsituted Motzerella instead. WOW! Every loved it! I also tried it was a twist. I added tuna fish for a SUPER CHEESY TUNA FISH CASSEROLE! It was great! Enjoy!

My boyfriend loves mac n cheese, so I wanted to make this for him...I ended up not even bringing it over for him to try. WAY too many eggs, it did taste like an ommlette with some macaroni in it. It wasn't BAD though, I brought it to work for lunch everyday and added a ton of shredded sharp cheddar cheese to the top of the leftovers, thinking it would melt over it and make it cheesier. Well, It STILL tasted like egg. I'm gonna try making it again, using only half the eggs, and probably 2 or 3 times as much cheese. Also, some of the cheeses seemed uneccessary to me, I don't think Swiss cheese has a strong enough flavor to even be put into the recipe, and I didn't taste the more expensive cheeses either. I'll use mainly sharp cheddar next time and maybe some leftover jack. I was in the mood for eggs that week, so I did enjoy it, but as I said, it's definitely not a good mac n cheese.

This recipe was very dissapointing. In my family we think cheese goes with just about anything so when we saw the ingredients, we thought this would be right up our ally. We thought it would be a wonderful creamy mac and cheese, but it was far from it.
We read the reviews from other people and decided to reduce the number of eggs to only two, but that was still really the only ingredient you could taste. The flavor of the cheese was virtually non-existant.
This recipe was expensive to make and not worth the time and energy.

I wish I had read the previous reviews before I made the recipe (doubled, of course, because I really was craving a "good" mac and cheese. I agree that it is too much like a quiche and I did NOT even double the eggs (I put in 8 for the doubled recipe. Plus, the "egginess" of the recipe actually diminishes the cheesy flavor a good mac and cheese needs. Sorry, Paula, NOT an ultimate recipe! I, too am searching for the REAL ultimate mac and cheese.

I followed the recipe exactly as well. It was way too many eggs for the amount of macaroni noodles. It taste like one big omlette or an egg quiche. It looked good on tv though. Yes, teh cheese can get rather expensive. I will continue my quest for a great mac n cheese recipe.

I followed this recipe EXACTLY and it wasn't even CLOSE to macaroni & cheese. It was good as a quiche or egg pie--the macaroni noodles were non-existent, as the amount of eggs overpowered the ENTIRE recipe.Maybe instead of 4 cups cooked macaroni it should be 6.I watched the episode where this dish was prepared & to the eye there was WAY more than 4 cups of cooked macaroni. Before baking mine was alot "soupier!"It was nowhere NEAR what we expected..and all that cheese is not CHEAP!!My husband the human garbage can was crushed & refused to eat it!!

I have always wondered how restaurants make mac and cheese taste so wonderful, and now I know. It's the eggs! And of course, the sour cream. This was super easy and delicious. I just finished making this for company that is coming over for lunch. I baked it in individual bowls instead of a casserole dish and I put a few breadcrumbs on top.
