My rating is an average of 4: the catfish, 3 stars, the black-eyed pea cakes, 5. What delicious black-eyed peas! I used Paula's "Spicy Black Eyed Peas" recipe and saved the bacon to add into the cakes. The fish was all right, but the pea cakes were scrumptious!

Absolutley delightful! I've made this twice now. I've also just whipped up the black eyed pea cakes by themselves over a nice bed of spinach. Fabulous!

I made these last night...very awesome! I make my black eyed peas with sausage and included the sausage chunks instead of adding bacon. Also, I just chopped and sauteed some red peppers instead of using roasted. Instead of shaping the cakes, I got them to the consistency of think pancake batter and poured the cakes in to the buttered skillet. Fried on each side until crispy (about 5 minutes each side and they were fantastic! So excited about all my NY leftovers now! Instead of the catfish recipe, I just blackened some cod and served with roasted brocolli and balsamic tomato salad. It was a great weeknight meal!

Oh my gosh, made this over the weekend and it was AMAZING! Also made the cole slaw from the same episode, and it was equally delicious. Took the leftovers the next day and constructed fish tacos, and it was even better than the original dish. Complete winner!

I'm giving 5 stars for the blackeye pea cakes only, simply because I didn't make the catfish. I used a can of crowder peas instead of the blackeye peas and omitted the roasted red peppers. Fried them up in a little bacon grease and they turned out so yummy. What a quick and easy little side dish. I can't wait to try them with blackeye peas!

Was bummed on this recipe since it was from Ms Paula (My fav FN Chef, I thought it was going to be perfect.. I had to admit the catfish came out super awesome.I followed the recipe and it was perfect for me (I'm not a fish person. As for the black eye pea cakes my husband likes them but for me I don't think they're all great.

I would try the cakes again as long as Ms Paula makes them for me......LOL!

I used Swai. It was awesome. I will never fiix it anyother way. Very moist. I was afraid the mustard would overpower the fish but it didn't. I haven't tried the blackeyed pea cakes yet but I intend to.

This was SO easy. It seems like the mustard and thyme would be too intense at first but once it is fried it has a awesome kick and the smell is great too. The black eyed pea ckaes were delish! I will make this again and again!

Just not to my taste. I had already figured out to wipe off the extra mustard/thyme mixture before reading these reviews and it was still too much. In my mind, it seemed like a recipe for someone who just does not like fish. I like my fish recipes to have the flavor of the fish come through and all the seasoning just masked what could have been an excellent fish.
