    I took reviewers advice and added 2 boxes of Ghiradelli Double Chocolate Brownie Mix. Came out thick, but everyone loved them!!

    The first time you bake this follow the recipe exactly as it is written, then the next time you can adjust to your liking. After reading several reviews here and elsewhere I decided to use 2 family size boxes for a 13x9 pan.I also used Hershery's toffee & almond nuggets because I didn't find actual Symphony bars. The brownies came out to thick, thankfully I didn't add extra eggs to make them more cake like. The toffee pieces were heavy so they sunk to the bottem. The end result, although delicious was to much brownie around a nugget.

    I know I am a minority giving these brownies only three stars, but after reading all the glorious reviews, I was expecting them to be much better than they were. Since I was feeding a small crowd, I made them in a 9x9 and baked them for fudgy brownies (vs. cake like. I think, even with a 9x9, they were still too thin. They were mostly candy bar and not too much fudgy brownie. Since most brownies taste better the second day, I kept them tightly sealed and did not taste them until then. I think this brownie is an expception and is probably better eaten the same day it is baked.

    These brownies are AMAZING and super easy to make. You can find the symphony bars at CVS. I also doubled up on the brownie mix; suggestion from other reviewers and I think that is necessary. If you want a hit at the party or work, make these ;

    These turned out great. I had a hard time finding the Symphony bars at Publix in the Atlanta area. I purchased Wonka bars at Target. I later discovered the Symphony bars are sold at Walgreens. Everyone loved these. I used two boxes of 9x13 brownie mix. Made them cakier but still very tasty. Next time I may break up the bars and place more on the edges so they look more like the picture. The middle was super moist! Normally I frost my brownies but these will never need that! For the man vs food channel guy, the Wonka bars do not have nuts so you can make these and they will be delicious.
    Addendum-Made these for a baking competiton. These came in first place in the cookie & brownie division.

    I took these to a potluck - I was surprised to see that five other people also took brownies...my brownies disappeared within five minutes - the other brownies were still there waiting when it was actually time for dessert.

    These are good. Once they cool the candy bar hardens again, so it is like eating a brownie wrapped around a candy bar. I think it would even be better if the chocolate in the middle was still runny.
