This came out so well. My husband normally doesn't like tomatoes, but thought it went perfectly with the mac & cheese.

I tried this recipe and made it this morning. I really don't care for the tomatoes and salt and pepper and even the dried mustard. I prefer the Lady and Sons Mac and Cheese is better and creamer because of the sour cream used in the recipe. This recipe is too dry for me and dry mustard has no place in mac and cheese.

My family really enjoyed this recipe. The tomatoes gave it great flavor. I didn't even blanch or peel the tomatoes and it turned out great. I will definitely make this again.

I blanched the tomatoes in the pot of boiling water to be used for cooking the pasta first. After about two minutes I scooped out the tomatoes into a small bowl of cold water, then poured the dried pasta into the boiling water to cook. After assembling everything into the pan, I drizzled the casserole with olive oil and Italian seasonings and the last 5 minutes of cooking sprinkled it with parmesan.

You boil water and add the tomatoes whole, for about 30 to 60 seconds. Then you put them in cold water,I just run cold water over them, this is just so you can peel the tomato very easily and with out getting any pulp. But don't leave them in the boiling water too long or they will get mushy. I do this same thing when I do home canned tomatoes. As far as the dish goes, it was very good!! I have one who doesn't like tomatoes, so I only put them on have of the dish, but I just loved it with the tomatoes! My husband and adult son's liked it too! I have made home made mac n cheese before but I like this one much better!! It was easy to make also, Thanks Paula!!

Maybe it's just me, but when I saw the cheese mixture to pasta ratio on my stove top, I thought there MUST be some mistake. I have the episode on the DVR...I'll have to watch it again, because I thought that amount of cheese mixture should be combined with at least one more cup of pasta. Tastey recipe though, and I used smoked paprika which gave it an interesting twist! The wife ate a little too much of it and it sent her running for the Rolaids! haha
Seriously, how can people eat like this on a regular basis and not eat Lipitor like candy???
Bottom line, next time I'm going with 3 cups uncooked pasta, and maybe a sprinkling of panko bread crumbs. Yummy!

Let's just say another family favorite. I made everything from this show except the dessert for Sunday dinner today.
