Absolutely delicious. Instead of green onions, I used thinly sliced white onion. Brushed the prebaked crust with a tiny bit of olive oil before filling (to keep water from seeping into the crust. Used the full amount of cheese and Hellman's mayo. Baked at 350 for 45 min, until the cheese and crust were deep golden brown. Let cool, refrigerated over night, then served the next day at room temperature. The crust was crisp, the filling creamy (not watery, and the browned cheese added another layer of flavor that cut through the richness of the mayo. I will definitely make this again, and again, and again.

I prepared this pie for dinner tonight after tasting a "Tomato Basil" Pie at an Austin, Texas farmers market restaurant. I liked the pie but felt as if the recipe called for too much mayo. Also, the pie was a runny so the next time I prepare this pie I will clean out the seeds from the tomatoes after peeling them. The pie I ate at the Austin, TX restaurant had a nice crust on the top of the pie so I will probably try this next time. Regardless of my initial "trial and error" at home, the pie is delicious! The calorie count is probably way too much but I'll make the necessary adjustments to bring it down.

I LOVE this recipe. And my bf who is a picky eater dove in for seconds!! I got it from my cousin initially and then looked on FN and saw it was by Paula (not surprised!!! always a go- to! I used a frozen pie crust and baked it for like 10 mins first. Instead of green onion, chopped white onion. And used bacon crumbles. Layered tomatoes, basil, onion, sprinkled bacon, dolloped mayonaise, and sprinkled cheese. About 3-4 layers. Amazing!

I entertained some family and had this as the main dish. It was absolutely delicious! Everyone was raving, and I mean going CRAZY. They said things like "man, the taste is just miraculous!" and "this is so good that you can't even describe it!" Of course it was no surprise. Paula Deen never fails at providing a classic southern recipe. We are South Carolinians, so we appreciate anything southern! Thank you, Paula!

Absolutely delicious, I had an overabundance of heirlooms tomatoes in my garden and some fresh basil and I was looking for a good recipe for tomatoes. This is soooo very delicious, the only thing I added to the recipe was a sprinkling of garlic powder over the tomatoes. Couldn't be better than this. Thanks Miss Paula!

So very tasty! I had a single serving of pasta with pesto which I used as a bottom layer. I love the topping!

Woops. Sorry for that last post regarding top crust. I enlarged the picture and see that it
is not crust. It is the cheese mixture. It was delicious even though I put a top crust on!!!
Other than that, I followed the recipe and it is wonderful.
