  • 1 head romaine lettuce, washed, dried and chopped
  • 1 ripe tomato, sliced
  • 1 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Dressing:

  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

In a large bowl, arrange lettuce. Distribute tomato slices, crumbled blue cheese and chopped basil attractively over lettuce. Season with pepper.

Make the dressing: In a glass jar with a tight lid, combine lemon juice, oil, sugar, garlic, and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper. Shake well and drizzle dressing over the salad just before serving.

    Best dressing ever!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I absolutely love this dressing. It is great on any salad and it has quickly become the only dressing I use anymore. I love... that the ingredients are so fresh, healthy and natural- no added junk like the kind you buy in the store. I don't put any sugar in it though and it is just as good. Thanks Paula!Read more

I usually hate making salads, but this one was worth the effor. It was my first time making dressing, and I was kind of... nervous but everyone said they really liked it (and not in just a courteous to the cook kind of way).Read more

    A Winner!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
My family loved this salad. It is simple, yet very flavorful. The dressing is the perfect mixture of sweet and tart. I did... substitute garlic powder for the crushed garlic, however, as we don't like the taste of raw garlic. I also omitted the basil from the salads for a couple of family members who don't like it. They also thought the salad was very tasty.Read more

I made this salad for some friends and they were licking the plate it was so good. One of my friends said it was better... than the salad we both love at one of our favorite restaurants.Read more
