They were so easy to make and so delicious. The light fluffy inside with the crusty top really was nice.
I also combined craisins with the raisins and served them with orange marmalade and butter.

This is one of my favorite recipes! I can't see how some people could have rated it lower. It is a quick and easy recipe, almost foolproof. I substitute butter-flavored shortening for 1/2 the butter and they are so light and fluffy. Sometimes I use dried cranberries or chocolate chips instead of raisins for a nice change. My co-wokers beg for these everytime we have morning meetings. Thanks Paula!

I tried Paula's raisin scones and then tried Ina's(Barefoot Contessa on her web-site. I'm afraid Ina won handsdown. Paula's recipe was OK, but Ina's was out of this world. Sorry, Paula,...I wanted you to be the winner because I love your show better.

I found this and a friend made them and brought them into work today!!! The best, although she used blueberries rather than raisins. I bet any mixed berry combo would also be great. Keep up the good work PAULA!!!

We loved these scones! We used dates instead of raisins... they still came out just fine. These are the easiest scones I've ever made. They are fluffy and light in texture. They were also a big hit with our friends. Paula, you're wonderful!

These scones were a little dry. Plus the amount of raisins in the recipe is not nearly enough to ensure they are evenly distributed into each scone. The raisins actually added most of the flavoring. If you bit the scone and got a raisin or two in the mouthful, the balance of flavoring, dryness and moisture were good. My solution? Double the amount of raisins! Not just any raisins, by the way. I added a Sun Maid's Mixed Jumbo Raisins. This product includes Golden, Thompson and Red Flame raisins. Excellent addition to the scones.
