I'm from Pennsylvania and gobs has been known in our part of the country for years, this recipe is very similar to the 1 I grew up with ,with a few exceptions,... my recipe calls for 3/4 cup of warm water (not boiling also adding 1 half teaspoon of salt, and 3 eggs , and 3/4cup of cocoa....if the recipe is followed according to these directions you should turn out with a light cookie ready to be filled with the creamy filling... I also wrap each gob individually in wax paper and it allows you to freeze them and serve when ready.. they are great to have on hand when company arrives

This is an excellent recipe. If you taste flour you didnt make it right. I have been making gobs for over 20 some years. I make them in all differnet kinds. Everyone just loves them...Thanks Paula for new ideas to change them up a little. Have a great Holiday Season!

These take some time to do, read recipe thoroughly (twice before starting. These were a real crowd pleaser, everyone loved them. Just pulled out the recipe to make for the Holidays!! For the filling...make sure you cook the flour long enough to get rid of flour taste.

I made these a while ago, and only logged on to see if it was rated yet.

Tasted like raw flour. It was quite overpowering.
I had thought that possibly there was a typo in the
    recipe.

My wife and I love these cookies they are so good. They are a bit hard to make but if you cook a bit you will be fine.To answer the question about the flour I made them just like it says to and it worked fine so yes 4 cups flour is correct. Im not sure why yours where thick. thanks alot.

These chocolate gobs were so good! I think the chocolate cake part is actually better than the filling itself. This is not the easiest recipe in the world. It took two people to make them but they were worth it! These will definitely need to be wrapped individually in saran wrap because they are very fragile and a little sticky!

My batter was not runny as shown on the episode..as well as mentioned on the recipe. Is 4 cups of flour correct?
