This was a really good milkshake. I used chocolate ice cream but I know it will be good with all different flavors of ice cream

Like everyone else is saying, could use less sugar and maybe a bit less vanilla extract. I made the original then ended up just doubling the recipe without adding anymore sugar or vanilla and it tasted great.

That said, I've had good recipes that didn't use sugar or vanilla extract at all so maybe I just wasn't prepared for just how sweet this would be.

Great milkshake! When nobody's home and you want to make something quick and easy this is the way to go. I usually like a lot of sugar in pretty much anything, but this is way to much sugar. I would recommend using half the amount of sugar suggested or none. Same with the vanilla, half or none. The vanilla is a little bit too overpowering to the milkshake. Other then the sugar and the vanilla this is a very great milkshake.

I never made a milkshake at home prior to this recipe, but I will be making many more. I used mint chocolate chip ice cream and skipped the sugar, though I was generous with the vanilla. And it was amazing! I cannot wait to try other flavors and share some with friends and neighbors. Thanks Food Network and Paula Deen!

I also threw in a little green food coloring to make it look more like the mint ice cream shop shake that my daughter was expecting. She loved it!

I made an account just to comment on this, it was sooooooo good. The only thing was it was a little soupy. I used 2 cups of milk, so if you want it to be thicker then use less like the recipe says.

I made it with chocolate ice cream instead and it was really delicious. If you are having a party I encourage everyone to make a little bit of both.

I was making these last summer for my daughter (and who am I kidding myself too!. Its fabulous!!! I did only use a teaspoon or 2 of sugar though as I felt 8 took away from the vanilla flavor and made it waaay too sweet. Put some whipped cream on top..yum!!! A must try, very authentic and so easy!
