I followed the recipe almost to the letter (I bumped up the Old Bay, Hot Sauce & Pepper a bit! and it came out perfect! Be sure to let it sit a day or two in the fridge to let flavors blend to perfection!

This recipe was more of a chowder than a crab soup. Even with doubling the amount of crab the recipe calls for, I found the crab got lost in all the vegies. The taste is very un-crab like. I'm not sure what award it won, but it doe NOT deserve to be called a Maryland Crab Soup.

We don't get a lot of fresh crab in Tulsa so I used the juice of one can of crab claws and refrigerated crab meat. I also added a pound of shrimp since my wife is not a big crab fan. To simplify I used can chicken and beef broth (carb free and frozen veggies but knew it all worked when my wife said "this is great" as she headed for seconds.

What an excellent blend of flavors at an affordable price! I made this for my family gathering (Good Friday and I received so many great compliments! I had never cooked with crab before, but I've made this recipe a "regular" (almost better than fried green tomatoes! Thanks to Wayne and Paula for this creative, festive, delicious dish!
