This is one of my husband's favorites! His mother used to make 'goulash' when he was a kid, which is very similar, but he said mine is better! As most everyone says, I use more of all the spices, and make sure to season everything with s&p as you are browning. So easy. And it freezes great. I always make the whole recipe and freeze half for another meal. Just defrost and heat.

I tried this recipe but was concerned with some of the reports on a bland taste. So, I used extra sharp cheddar, Italian crushed tomatoes, and 1 can of Rotel brand tomatoes with green chilies. I also put a thin layer of cheese in the middle. My son loved it!

I made Wayne's Mac n Cheese for myself and my son. We both thought it was awesome. I like American Chopsuey and my son doesn't because of the stewed tomatoes, so this was kind of a compromise to it, but much much tastier., Bravo Wayne, Thanx for the recipe, thanx to you too Paula Deen, you taught your sons well.

This recipe is one of our favorites when my son's college friends come over. However we do a couple of things differently - we use spicy Italian sausage instead of ground beef and canned Italian tomatoes instead of regular.

What an awesome, easy and inexpensive dish. I cut the recipe in half. It's just my husband and myself. Turned out great. I made it the night before. Then took it out about an hour before I cooked it. Even the leftovers were good. The next time I make it, I'm going to make the whole recipe and freeze half of it. To see if it freezes well.

I made this recipe and I did like it alot, however, my issue with it was prep time. The recipe stated that the prep time was eight minutes. Well I guess if you are on TV and someones else does all the slicing and dicing it may be 8 minutes, It was more like 45 minutes for me...

I love the idea of this dish, but like some other reviews, it was bland. For a gal like me that cant' take spice, that says alot! I gave it four stars because I think it can be "doctored" up to be wonderful. Next time I will season the meat more, add italian style crushed tomatoes and sprinkle some sharp cheddar cheese throughout (just a little.

This was a hit! Love it! I also followed some recommendations and used Italian crushed tomatoes, and added extra spices. I'm not much for measuring, but I added a liberal amount of chili powder, Italian seasoning, cumin, crushed, dried garlic, garlic powder, and a little bit of basil as I'm not the biggest fan. I mixed the 3 cups of cheese into the mixture, but did sprinkle what I had left over on top. I'm making my third batch today actually. Yum!

I followed the recommendations and added more spices. Instead of 1 tsp I added 1 Tbsp of each spice and about 4 cloves of garlic. It was delish! Will def be making it again!

Whoever Wayne is, I want to marry him! Mac n' cheese is my favorite food in the world, and has been since I was maybe 4 years old. I have a great standard recipe that I use all the time, but I love trying other more unique ones to supplement my repertoire - this one was definitely a winner. It makes a ton of food, which is great because I love making dishes and freezing the leftovers. I don't usually look to Paula Deen for recipes because she typically uses SO much butter, oil, and other fatty ingredients. But this one is perfect. I used ground beef the first time I made it, but I have made it since with ground chicken or turkey to cut back on fat since there is so much cheese. Love it!
