I just made these, I made a couple of subsitutions, I used Marchino cherries cut up and sliced almonds. They are delicious. Thanks Paula

The first batch I baked burned on the bottom. Also, the second burned. For the third batch I baked them for 11 minutes, but they came out not quite done in the middle. I then raised the oven rack one notch up, baked another batch for a shorter time and they came out okay. My family even liked the burned batch, so they must be winners. I will admit instead of greasing the cookie sheet, I sprayed it with cooking oil. Maybe that's why the burned. Anyone got a suggestion???

I wasn't too impressed with the original recipe. They came out like hockey pucks. I tried it again, adding another stick of butter and cut back on the sugar. I also used chopped dried cherries, lowered the baking temp to 350 and shortened the baking time by 2 minutes. They came out delicious then, soft and slightly crunchy at the edges. I agree with the other reviewers that the original recipe was way too sweet.

WAYYYY too much sugar! So sugary I got a sugar headache. Haven't had one since I was a teenager! I tasted the first batch and decided to add 1/3 more of everything, except the sugar, and they were YUMMY!! Next time I'll cut the white sugar in half.

I was short on finances this year, so I decided to make a great batch of Cookies as my gift to both myself and my partner's family. These did just the trick! Listening to other reviews, I added an additional half stick of butter and I used normal dried cherries (rather than candied cherries. The came out perfect! Even with the extra half stick of butter, it was some of the weirdest batter I've ever felt but it baked perfectly. I wouldn't dare try it sans that extra butter. Additionally, the batter itself was very sweet; the dried cherries cut that sweetness with a great bite of tang perfectly. Regardless of finances in the future, I think this may become a holiday tradition.

Like Adam Richmond says "Oh my goodness! oh my goodness!" These were extremely delicious! easy to make and full of flavor. I could not find candied cherries, so I substituted glazed cherries instead.

Loved it! I did use the stick and half of butter like many reviews before suggested. Came out perfect. I would like a little more cherry flavor but everyone loved these cookies.

I made these cookies for a cookie swap, this holiday season. It was the first time I made them. They were devoured. Not one cookie was left! There were 7 people at the party, I made 40 cookies!!! I read the reviews and added an extra half a stick of butter as some suggested. They turned out beautiful and delicious! Festive looking for the holidays, but I will make them throughout the year.....just talking about them makes me want one :

I made these for the first time this year for Christmas. I had trouble getting them to look presentable to send as Christmas cookies. They looked a bit dry and cakey, however they tasted very good and I received positive feedback from my tastetesters. Next time I will try adding more butter like the other reviewers recommended. Mine did not flatten out like in the above picture. I will also add more candied cherries. I preferred my cherries chopped a bit too.

I agree with the previous reviews the recipe for this cookie dough is way too dry as is (dough crumbled as I tried to scoop on cookie sheet. This can be corrected by increasing the butter or reducing the flour. The taste is very sweet but still pleasant and very good. I have also used dried cranberries in place of the cherries which is equally is good.
