Loved it! I did use the stick and half of butter like many reviews before suggested. Came out perfect. I would like a little more cherry flavor but everyone loved these cookies.

I made these cookies for a cookie swap, this holiday season. It was the first time I made them. They were devoured. Not one cookie was left! There were 7 people at the party, I made 40 cookies!!! I read the reviews and added an extra half a stick of butter as some suggested. They turned out beautiful and delicious! Festive looking for the holidays, but I will make them throughout the year.....just talking about them makes me want one :

I made these for the first time this year for Christmas. I had trouble getting them to look presentable to send as Christmas cookies. They looked a bit dry and cakey, however they tasted very good and I received positive feedback from my tastetesters. Next time I will try adding more butter like the other reviewers recommended. Mine did not flatten out like in the above picture. I will also add more candied cherries. I preferred my cherries chopped a bit too.

I agree with the previous reviews the recipe for this cookie dough is way too dry as is (dough crumbled as I tried to scoop on cookie sheet. This can be corrected by increasing the butter or reducing the flour. The taste is very sweet but still pleasant and very good. I have also used dried cranberries in place of the cherries which is equally is good.

I followed the suggestions by other reviewers, and used 1.5 sticks of butter. They would have been too hard and dry without it, and would have been difficult to blend.

I used DRIED cherries, and love the chewy texture they give the cookies without being too sweet. I found as I was making them that I wanted more cherries in each cookie, so I just pressed a few extras into each as I went along. I ended up using 6 oz of the cherries. I made my cookies rather small, because I was putting several into individual gift bags, so this way each cookie got about 3 cherries.

I only turned the oven to 350, and baked for 10 minutes.

I am not a fan of (a macadamia nuts, (b crushing up whole macadamia nuts, or (c paying the equivalent of a car payment for macadamia nuts, so I substituted slivered almonds. I didn't even crush them, just left them slivered, and they worked great. They gave the cookies a bit of a lumpy "sloppy" look, but that's my favorite kind of cookie.

Started with original recipe, awful, big blobs because it had way too little butter. On second try doubled the butter, used one cup, not one stick. Better, but I think her triple chocolate cookies make a better base. Also went with dried cherries which I prefer.

These cookies are just WAY too sweet! Too much sugar and the cookies are big and bulky. Second P. Deen recipe that I have tried that just isn't all that great :( .

Great cookies - use 1 1/2 sticks of butter, white chocolate chips, pecans and they turned out great. They have become a favorite.

These are my husband's all-time favorite cookies. They are really nice at Christmas with red and green cherries. Delicious!

I have made many a cookie in my day, but I can honestly say that I have never baked with candied cherries, so I was a little hesitant. Boy was I surprised! There were one of the best cookies I have ever had!! Luckily, at this time of year, red AND green candied cherries are available, so the cookies were very festive looking. I followed the recipe exactly and had no problems. The cookies were a HUGE hit with the family and my daughter's co-workers. The recipe is a great addition to my holiday recipes.
