I made these cookies last year to give away as christmas gifts, but ended up throwing most of them in the trash because they were hard as rocks. I am going to try them again this year using two sticks of butter instead of the one stick that is listed in the recipe. I hope to have better luck this year!

I love these cookies, I use marascino cherries instead of candied cherries, they are really good

I just love these cookies! I typically used dried cherries and no nuts. This year I used cherry-flavored cranberries since that was all I could find the day I went shopping. My cookies don't ever flatten out like the picture, but they are still SOO delicious! They are my husband's favorite!

Good recipe. As suggested prior, I used 1/2 butter and 1/2 Crisco so that the cookies would not "flatten" out so much. Worked fine.

Excellent cookies! And very easy to make as well. My family happens to like cranberries more than cherries, however, and so i just substituted the same amount of dried cranberries in for the cherries, and they were delicious! Paula Deen is simply one of the best!!

Paula Deen is my favorite and these cookies are great! Tonight was my first time making cookies from scratch and these were super easy to make. I look forward to trying other recipes, since my early Christmas gift just came in today (Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer!!!

PS. I followed others advice and added another 1/2 stick of butter to the original 1 stick.

When I ran out of candied cherries, I made just the basic recipe which everyone loved. So now they have become my "signature dessert recipe request" for family dinners and pot luck gatherings :

My boyfriend loves these, he's a cherry and white chocolate lover. The first time I made them, the texture was kind of weird, I guess because I used shortening instead of butter. The next time I followed the recipe exactly using butter, and the texture and flavor was great. The cookies were moist and looked just like the picture. I've been asked to make these again and I'm sure it won't be the last time!

I made these cookies today, minus the cherries. I only baked them for 8 minutes, would not want to imagine them at 11-13. The batter is super thick. I won't be making them again. I will just stick with Nestle recipe.

These cookies came out beautifully and were quite the hit in my cookie arrangement. I used green and red cherries and they were very pretty. The taste is wonderful. Highly recommend any time of year!
