I made this for a family get together...Everyone loved it so much. I couldn't believe how easy and delicious it was. The only thing I would suggest is that you add 2/3 of the bacon to the sour cream mixture. Sprinkle the remaining bacon on top. It gives it a lot more flavor that way.

How about something lighter than tons of mayo and sour cream. There has to be something better from a professional that tons of mayo from the 50's. I don't want to look like a Hellman's mayo jar.

This is by far one of the easiest and
most delicious appetizers EVER! I have
prepared it several times and it is
a huge hit. I brought it to a dinner
party and the hostess complained that
the guests weren't eating much of her
delicious dinner because they had devoured
the dip!! I, too, add shredded cheddar
or pepperjack on top of the tomato layer.
I do not add ranch to the mayo/sour cream
because that detracts from the pure flavor
of a traditional BLT. I add some salt
on top of the tomatoes and always make
sure that the bacon is very crisp and
    freshly fried before adding. ALWAYS
use a top-quality, smoked bacon. Thanks,
Paula, for another winner! What would
    we do without you??!!

I've been making this recipe for years and it is always a hit. Instead of layering, I mix the bacon and tomato into the dip and let it sit overnight. I sometimes add a little pepper as well. Then serve in a lettuce bowl for decoration. Will be very flavorful after letting it sit.
