This dish was fairly easy to make and is so versatile. I omitted the salt in the eggs (because the sausage is salty enoughand mustard. But, I noticed that the potatoes (not the eggs needed more flavor. Also, next time I make it I'll cook the potatoes for a little longer than the recipe calls for. For me, I love my potatoes a little crunchier. I took the casserole to a Bible Study and the women loved it. I even topped the casserole with some green onion. I can't wait to make this one again. Delicious, thank you Paula!

I'm not giving it 5-stars only because I thought it was almost too simple. Meaning there was nothing unique or especially interesting with the flavors being presented. Despite my opinion my workmates raved. I'm going to experiment with different sausages and see what a little green chili does to the dish.

I used this recipe to update a version I've been making for years that's quite similar but doesn't contain hash browns. My regular breakfast guests and I liked the addition of potatoes, but with the following changes: The hash browns need to be cooked until they get brown in order to impart some flavor, and they need a lot of added salt. About the half the bread is needed. Finally, too much cheese overwhelms the casserole - I used about half what is recommended here.

This casserole is so awesome, from the hidden layer of hashbrowns to the cheesy crust on the top it is a marvelous taste sensation. I took it to a church breakfast and got rave reviews. Thanks Paula, for making me a genious in the kitchen once again.

This turned out great for us. Everyone loved it and wanted more at our brunch. We made a few modifications: we used half of the bread amount (sounded and looked like too much, used only cheddar cheese and we caramelized the onions before adding the hash browns. It was VERY YUMMY!

Followed the recipe with the exception of cooking the hash browns. Cooked them in the saute pan twice as long so they wouldn't be cold. Sausage ended up over cooked after baking. Hash browns and bread were too much for this recipe. There are better breakfast casserole recipes out there.

This sounded good, but so many ingredients. The potatoes need to be fully cooked, in my opinion first and maybe just potatoes or bread. Mine was very dry, with way too much bread. I won't be making this again. Make Paula's French Toast Casserole instead. Now that's a keeper!

This is wonderful recipe and the nutmeg give it a fantastic flavor. Yes, you could cut back on the bread and tweak the cheese. I personally don't care for Parmigiano but that is easily remedied. The beauty of casseroles are that you can switch out ingredients with no harm done. This is a great base casserole to do just that!

The recipe looked great, but too much bread! Next time, my recipe will adapt to 90% potato and and 10% or less of the bread. Also, more cheddar cheese and less parm cheese.
