This burger is excellent. I did not use the Krispy Kreme donuts since, unfortunately, they are not available here. This makes me sad. I also lighten the recipe by using extra-lean ground beef. FYI, this episode is a "Paula's Home Cooking" episode and the aforementioned episode that hayes_sue referred to that she states Paula borrowed Michael Symon's "Lola Burger" recipe is an episode of "Paula's Best Dishes", which aired AFTER the "Paula's Home Cooking" episodes were made.

    That sandwich is a Beaute.
Love the egg on top. to make it vegitarian as well.
Who says you can’t have a good vegan burger? Let me guess the same people who say that eating beef we have to kill cows.

Miss Paula debued this Beef Burger with Chef Michael Symon. Did call it "Lola Burger". His recipe if anyone saw the show!As for Krispy Kreme doughnuts in place of the English Muffins is a Choice,Only. It is perfect. Any Diet with Moderation as its Core is Fine! Stop bashing Miss Paula...

This recipe is MAYBE a once a year treat. I personally LOVE it!! It reminds me of the Papaya/Mango burger at Hamburger Henry's in Belmont Shore, years ago. (Only HH's was better

Nonetheless, if you think this is something you don't want to eat, DON'T EAT IT! It's a recipe, NOT an order!

For the love of the dear sweet Christ above. It is a recipe not a topic of foreign policy! If the recipe is not up to your standard of healthy living, then you may want to re-think what you choose to view on television. I made this and it was delicious! I further expedited my journey to hell by combining ground sirloin, ground pork and ground veal. It will be a rare treat and indulgence for my family but a very happy one at that.

    Hey Folks
Look at the recipe before you start condemning. The recipe clearly states the donuts as an option, it also lists english muffins and other types of breads. Paula also pointed the same thing out on the episode. If you are too dumb to read the entire recipe then don't judge it. I personally wouldn't try it with a donut, but I won't judge anyone who does. People are overweight in this country because of their own personal choices, not because of someone they watch on T.V.

I do not have a weight problem. Like dessert you don't eat this
every day. But when you want a good burger once in a while
this is the one to make. So very good. If you eat healthy then
don't make it. I eat healthy but treat myself to what makes me
happy ever so often. People would not have a weight problem
if they stopped eating when they were full.

My friends kept telling me about these burgers, and got me to try a bite during a pre-season game...I eventually ate the whole thing, and took extras to my family to try. They are actually very good, despite how it may sound.

Now as far as the people who want to leave comments about health and obseity...of course ANYTHING fattening you eat, its a burger (PERIOD, regardless of the donut bun, or a regular hamburger bun, pieces of bread, etc. It's all about moderation and exercise. This recipe doesn't mean that people will make them every day...cooking is about an affinity for food, and sharing new ideas. If this recipe is posted or not, it doesn't mean that people will not make them at home, or try it at a restaurant. She is just fortunate enough to have her own show, and simply shared an idea...if you don't like it, don't try it. But you don't have to knock it either, no one is perfect in their thoughts, ways or ideas!

We have the highest obesity rate of any country on earth, we're dropping dead of heart disease every day at record rates, diabetes in on the rampage among our population, and people sit around concocting recipes like this one? Unbelievable.

Here's the weird part: Drop the donut and you actually can balance your blood sugar by eating the protein, even if it is high in fat. It's the starch/sugary stuff that glues the fat into our arteries, not the meat and cheese by itself. So, drop the donut and eat what's in the sandwich if you have to eat this thing. Just don't eat the glue (donut/starch/sugar/bread.
