My friends kept telling me about these burgers, and got me to try a bite during a pre-season game...I eventually ate the whole thing, and took extras to my family to try. They are actually very good, despite how it may sound.

Now as far as the people who want to leave comments about health and obseity...of course ANYTHING fattening you eat, its a burger (PERIOD, regardless of the donut bun, or a regular hamburger bun, pieces of bread, etc. It's all about moderation and exercise. This recipe doesn't mean that people will make them every day...cooking is about an affinity for food, and sharing new ideas. If this recipe is posted or not, it doesn't mean that people will not make them at home, or try it at a restaurant. She is just fortunate enough to have her own show, and simply shared an idea...if you don't like it, don't try it. But you don't have to knock it either, no one is perfect in their thoughts, ways or ideas!

We have the highest obesity rate of any country on earth, we're dropping dead of heart disease every day at record rates, diabetes in on the rampage among our population, and people sit around concocting recipes like this one? Unbelievable.

Here's the weird part: Drop the donut and you actually can balance your blood sugar by eating the protein, even if it is high in fat. It's the starch/sugary stuff that glues the fat into our arteries, not the meat and cheese by itself. So, drop the donut and eat what's in the sandwich if you have to eat this thing. Just don't eat the glue (donut/starch/sugar/bread.

a local restaurant makes a similar burger - the hangover burger: hamburger patty topped with cheddar, bacon, a fried egg, and hot sauce. Very delicious!

I didn't have any doughnuts so I just used 2 sticks of butter and stuck the Patty of Death in between.

Personally, I can't wait to get to my local KK and get a dozen to give this one a whirl. It looks like a great way to start a Sunday (or any other day.

If you don't like what the Food Network or Paula Dean (or any other chef offers, then go to another site or another channel. Most cable providers are actually up to more than 300 channels now.

If you don't like your recipes with a stick of butter, then you should go and watch Dr. Oz and his newest episode on why you should only eat fiber and then review each and every poop you have to make sure it meets up with his standards.

Alright people this is not a forum for you to come and complain about what you think is wrong with the FN or how you don't like Paula Dean. This is here to rate the recipe AFTER you have actually tried it. If you don't plan on trying it and want to complain about it find some place else to go. If you don't like the food Paula puts out then DON"T WATCH IT!!! It's as simple as that. You have to know that Paula is not the queen of healthy so don't complain because she comes out with a recipe like this one. Stop rating a recipe a 1 star because you don't like what it represents or you don't like the chef. That's not what this is for.

My God the amount of pompousness in the reviews of this recipe is astounding. If you are aghast at how unhealthy this recipe is, DON'T TRY IT. Simple concept huh? Paula isn't known for cooking healthy food. Get off your high horses people. There's something called common sense, USE IT. Instead of blaming the network and the chefs for their recipes, get off your flabby butts and DO something about the obesity in this country if it bothers you so much. Seriously.
