The amount of cream cheese is wrong in the recipe. It says 12oz (1.5 bars but should say 24oz (3 bars
I made the mistake of following the recipe without reading these comments or watching the video (video shows her using 3 bars and it was awful and a complete waste of time and money.

Worst, I made it as a surprise Valentine's day gift for my wife (I dont cook and it ruined my Valentine's day.

I emailed FoodNetwork a few weeks back but they still haven't corrected the recipe.

I wil try it again some time with correct ingredients

I made this recipe for my family and they loved it. This was my first attempt at making a cheesecake, and I have to say that I am very proud of myself-thanks to Paula's help. I did , however, bake it for 55mins because the center was not done. I was afraid that the rest of the cake would be affected by the additional baking time, but luckily, that was not the case. It was perfect!!

I've made a cheesecake for my roommate's birthday for the past three years. Its kind of our tradition. Last year I made a cheesecake from a Philadelphia Cream Cheese recipe and it turned out really well. This year I thought I'd give the Food Network a try. I followed the directions and everything and the product was not good. I gather from other posts that Paula used 3 packages on the show instead of 1.5. I bet that's why my cheesecake did not turn out well. It was really cakey and not creamy at all. My roommate, her boyfriend and I all tried it and decided it was more like cake (or bread than cheesecake. I'm gonna have to give two stars because it was just not good.

I thought that she said on the episode to use a 9" springform pan, but I used an 8" like the recipe calls for on this site...my cake was not fully cooked in the middle. I think using a larger pan would correct this...and perhaps adding 5-10 minutes to the cooking time. I also used 3 8oz packs of cream cheese like she says on the episode. 1 and a half blocks would not be enough. Finally, next time I will use less butter for the crust. Butter leaked out of my pan onto the cookie sheet bc there was just too much--and mine carmelized a lot (like another reviewer mentioned so I will try 5 tblsp next time. Easy and worth making again.

This cheesecake was excellent. The filling was right on ( I used 3 8oz packages of cream cheese and the chocolate sauce was to die for. The only thing that was a little off was the crust. I used an 8inch springform pan and when I finished baking the cheesecake I noticed that grease had seeped out. I tried using less butter the next time and still a little came out. Perhaps it was because I grounded my own graham cracker crumbs which already had oil in it to begin with. But overall, very good!

This is one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had! It's better than most restaurants and very easy to make. My mom and I made it for my husband's birthday. He's not a big fan of chocolate, so we skipped the chocolate topping and did a fruit topping instead. We live on the Central Coast of CA and there's a local berry called olalliberry that's delicious. Linn's Farms makes a fabulous olalliberry topping that was exceptional on this cheesecake. Thanks, Paula! (And we did use three 8 oz packages--it was perfect.

I watched Steak in the City episode and was wanting to make Paula's NY Cheesecake for Valentines' Day this weekend.
I'm confused tho. On the show, Paula said 3 pkgs of Cream cheese but the receipe only said 12 oz. Which is it???? 3 8 oz pkgs or 3 4oz pkgs of cream cheese??

My husband loved the cheesecake but I think I put too much butter and the crust sort of carmelized. Next time I think I'll just buy a crust. Very delicious though. My husband hates chocolate so I just topped it with strawberries.
