Down side, crust was soggy and un cooked. I had to cook the pie crust on the cook top range.
The rest was good, my co-workers loved it. I thought it was ok but it still needed something to jazz it up besides the rum. I will make it again, and work on the crust issue.

I wanted so badly to love this pie. I am glad I did a trial run before baking it for Christmas. All I could really taste was the rum, and the texture was VERY egg-y. It definitely needs more sugar and maybe some vanilla, but I won't try again to figure out how much.
Can anyone suggest a sweet custard pie, like a coconut custard just w/o the coconut?

I really love eggnog and thought this pie would be a festive way to end our pre-Christmas Christmas party. I wasn't too impressed with it, honestly. I thought it was just "okay", but my wife and friends thought it was very good. I thought the pie was a little too "eggy" for my taste...but that is pretty common with custard pies. It also wasn't extremely sweet by itself. However, pair it with some whipped creme and the taste really takes off.

I left out the rum and added 1/8th cup of Jack Daniel's instead. You couldn't taste the whiskey at all...and I imagine you can't really taste the rum in the original recipe either.

All in all, it was pretty good. I'd make it again, but I won't expect an amazing end-all, be-all holiday pie.

The crust was soggy and basically not cooked. The custard was good but did not taste like egg nog really just tasted like custard.

This pie is very easy to prepare. I eliminated the Rum. The pie os very good without it for a mixed crowd. We will make this one again and again!
