My mom has made these for me since I was little. I thought she made them up until now! My kids love them. We do not put ketchup or mustard but instead, top them with the french onions you put on green bean casserole!

I tried to make this from memory after looking at the recipe, but I just realized I omitted the flour! No matter; I let it simmer on the stove until the sauce thickened up naturally. Plus, I used 2 lbs. of ground sirloin that had to be used up right away, but only used one can of soup. So I added some dehydrated onions (also wanted to use them up, a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste, and a few squirts of ketchup and mustand (to taste right into the pan. Mixed it all together and let it simmer, and man is it good. : I portioned it out into 1/2-cup servings in plastic containers & put them in my freezer.
I'd like to try it again using a can of onion soup and a can of cheddar cheese soup (similar to what another reviewer suggested. Cheese makes everything taste better! LOL I think this would be great mixed with some rice or pasta and mixed veggies. Or along with the rice (or orzo, you could add some chopped spinach, kalamata olives and feta cheese to turn it into a Greek-American dish. Essentially, its a great base recipe that anyone can use to play around with different additions and flavors. But its definitely tasty as is.

Loved the pajama party show! This receipe reminds me of something my mom used to make, she added velveta. Tried it the first time following the receipe, 2nd helping with cheddar cheese. I like that better - use a nice soft sesame seed bun, mayo and mustard.

After I saw this on Paula's Party, I had to try it. I used ground turkey. I also didn't have a can of french onion soup, so I took an onion soup packet and added 12 oz of water and cooked it. I used this instead, and it had such good flavor! VERY EASY to make. I didn't have buns either, so I just toasted up a couple pieces of bread! Gotta make do with what you have, right? Enjoy!

These look wonderful, I can't wait to try them. I have a friend who lived in Illinois and they make a sandwich like this and they call them "made right burgers". I hope they taste as good as the ones in Illinois. Thanks for all the good recipes.

Paula I tried the onion burgers byDiane Teddy they were great but now i want you to try the onion burgers by me. I changed them alittle by taking sour dough bread and buttering one side of each then I browned the hamberger and drained it well then added the french onion soup and flour as usual but the twist was I mixed mayo and ketchup together so you taste alittle more of the ketchup than mayo spread it on the unbutter side of the bread both pieces than on one slice of bread put montery jack cheese shreded and jack cheese shreded then the meat on top of the meat I repeated the cheeses put the other slice of bread with the dressing on top butter side up put it on a panini press and my husbnd and I ate that for two days in a row we loved it I hope you will try this and let me know I hope if it is as good to you as it was to us you will have it on your show I will always be watching thank you your very best fan Vikki Allen

Just finished eating this for dinner and it was SO easy! I really was able to make it in less than 15 minutes. So good just the way the recipe says. I added aged provolone cheese to the bun. YUM!

Sloppy Joe's are ok for a quick night meal with frozen french fries when everyone is in a hurry. I made these instead and what a hit. They even request them now. I took them in a crock pot to a gathering at our lake and now everyone wants me to bring these all the time!! Awsome, because it's quick and easy!! Way to go Paula
