How to Make Quinoa in the Microwave

Don't bother waiting for water to boil when you can make microwave quinoa in just a few minutes.

You will need 1/2 cup of quinoa and 3/4 cup water.

Step 1

First, rinse the quinoa thoroughly to remove bitterness.

Step 2

Put the quinoa in a medium-to-large microwave-safe bowl and add the water.

Step 3

Cover and microwave on high for 6 minutes.

Step 4


Step 5

Cover again and microwave at 80% power until the water is absorbed, about 3 more minutes.

Step 6

Fluff with a fork.

Vegetarian Quinoa Bowl

This one is a total no-brainer and is great for Meatless Mondays. In a microwave-safe bowl, toss the quinoa with black beans and chopped bell pepper, then top it with some shredded cheese. Microwave the dish for a few minutes, just to melt the cheese a bit, then add avocado, salsa verde and cilantro. This bowl is easy to customize, so feel free to add the veggies you prefer and get creative with the toppings!
