Our Favorite Mexican Drinks

When you think of Mexican drinks, the first thing that comes to mind is probably the margarita. It’s a staple whenever you’re serving up tacos or a big bowl of homemade guacamole—but far from the only beverage you should know. There’s its crisp and bubbly cousin the paloma; refreshing, non-alcoholic aguas frescas; rompope and ponche for the holidays; masa-enriched champurrado—the list goes on and on. If you’re looking for the perfect drink or cocktail to pair with your favorite Mexican dishes, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve rounded up the classics (plus a few recipes with a twist), starting with this simple, fruity sipper. Just puree cubed, seeded watermelon with a little water in a blender, until smooth. Then, pour over a mixture of muddled mint leaves, sugar and lime slices. You can make agua fresca with a variety of different fruits but this one is too delicious to pass up!

Palomas

Geoffrey makes the classic palmoa recipe his own by adding a little splash of freshly squeezed orange juice and grapefruit juice along with the soda. The citrus adds just a touch of sweetness, while keeps all the flavors in balance.
