I liked the flavor of the sauce on its own but as a whole salad....it was bland and oily tasting.

We have made this recipe repeatedly since we both really like the flavors. I always reduce the amount of oil and we don't put the chicken in an ice bath at all, just let it rest a few minutes and then slice it warm. I really like the ginger sauce on the warm chicken on the cool salad. Not sure what all the problems with salt are about - we always just salt to taste, not per the directions. love this salad!

We took the advice of previous reviewers and left the salt out of the poaching liquid and salt bath, so it wasn't too salty at all. The flavors were good, but I might try marinating the chicken in the ginger sauce if I were to make it again.

This tasted horrible! We had to throw it out and find something else to eat. Both the salad and the ginger topping for the chicken were gross!

I left the salt out of the ice water too and the chicken tasted fine. I like the flavors of the chicken and the salad, but I wasn't fond of the whole poaching process. I'll try the recipe again, but will try cooking the chicken a different way.

Thanks for the tip iluvlucy. While I am normally a salt fiend, your suggestion worked.

This dish was perfect after a hot summer day! The cucumber-radish salad cooled the dish down, while the shallot-ginger topping added great flavor! My husband loved the textures and the fresh flavors.

The dish was really salty. When I make it again I will add less salt to the poaching liquid, and omit the salt altogether in the ice water bath.

This recipe had a lot of potential, but it was a bit too salty, a bit to oily and the texture of the chicken was not quite right. I rated it a 3 out of 5 instead of lower because my husband liked the recipe, but I would not make it again.
