This is BS! Don't have the guy and do his recipe if we can't have the recipe. Guy, this is lame...

There are holes all over this one Guy. I have even gotten calls from friends who watched the show and can't believe what they consider to be a bait and switch.

Guys and/or Girls of Food Network,
This should make your comments as I think YOU are dropping the ball and not the chef's.
When will you respond to your audience and provide the recipe for the vinegar sauce?

Belinda and Cecilia, note that I am requesting Food Network to provide the recipe for the VINEGAR SAUCE, I believe that we all see the BBQ sauce recipe.
You think it's possible that the guy stating he did not see the BBQ sauce recipe made a mistake and wanted the Vinegar Sauce recipe?

Back to Food Network, I am only rating the recipe this way because the recipe is not complete. Perhaps the chefs should approach those of you at Food Network to correct this. I would think that at Food Network, you would have some sort of Quality Assurance to review what you send out to us to make sure it is in alignment with what we saw on the episode.
Setting aside the viewing of the episode, The recipe clearly states " Wilsons' BBQ Award Wining Eastern Carolina Vinegar Sauce, recipe follows". Is it embedded in the recipe without a title?

I grew up in Eastern NC and ate many times at various bar-b-que restaurants and ketchup is NEVER used in true Eastern NC sauce. When I say Eastern, I mean East of I95. You can find ketchup in the sauce in Raleigh and in Western NC, but NOT in Wilson, Greenville, Goldsboro, etc. Here is a recipe that is typical of real Eastern NC bar-b-que.
    1 cup distilled white vinegar
    1 cup cider vinegar
    1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
    1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
Table salt and ground black pepper

I don't know what time you were expecting to eat, but entire marinate and cook time is about 12 hours if you read the recipe

OMG! I can't believe it's incomplete! Not only is the sauce missing, the Mop recipe doesn't seem correct either. I always record Guy's shows, and no matter how many times I watch it, my nightmare is true... It's wrong. Richard watched it with me and insisted on having it for dinner. Usually this challenge thrills me, but this is crazy! I'm using other recipes to finish it, but I hope to oneday cook it the way Guy wanted it!!!!

I read the info three times and still did not see the recipe for the BBQ sauce. If you see that recipe, Cecelia and Belinda, then please post it.

I watched this show after my own 4th of July party. I made the same dishes and wanted to try Guy's method next time. One of the things that I went right to the website for was the eastern NC vinegar sauce. While we have our own version that seems to be very similar I wanted to try Mr. Wilson's proportions.
Why didn't you give the recipe? I watched it but didn't get all of the ingredients and measurements because I knew that I could go to Food TV to get it.

Please put this recipe up on line. To say the least I am disappointed. If I had the full recipe I might have rated this show much better. Come on--who is really going to challenge, compete and overtake either Guy's or Mr. Wilson's business? If it was a trade secret then Guy shouldn't have said he was putting in the recipe. The mopping sauce is not the same as the barbeque sauce.

Using chili powder and cumin is a terrible way to ruin gods perfect meat! I am sure the Wilsons BBQ palce recanted on allowing his recipe to be published. Here is another typical N.C. recipe:

    1 gallon apple cider vinegar
    1 (28-ounce bottle ketchup
    2 3/4 cups firmly-packed brown sugar
    1/4 cup garlic powder
    1/4 cup salt
    1/4 cup crushed red pepper
    1 tablespoon ground black pepper

    Boil then cool.

I use a 1 cup of salt when cooking a whole pig plus a small bottle of tobasco

The recipe calls for 2 sauces -- the mop sauce for cooking and the vinegar sauce for serving. Mop sauce is there, vinegar sauce is not -- and they are different.

From the show, the vinegar sauce included 1 quart of apple cider vinegar, 1 cup of water, 1/8 cup of red pepper flake. He also mentioned ketchup. Add some spices I'm sure, plus some cooking time. I'd love to know what the recipe is -- the host sure crowed over how good it was.
