This dish is excellent and I would recommend you try it... however, it took much longer than 30 minutes to prepare this meal, start to finish. Now I watched the little woman make this on Food TV, and I know she managed to do it, and like most of her recipes, I can do them in the 30 minute time frame, but this, wasn't one of them. I have a small kitchen, food processor isn't handy, yadda yadda...I think this may have been one reason. It also uses ALOT of cookware, so be prepared to wash alot of dishes.
The combination of apple in the potatoes and the smoky bacon on top of the dish made it rustic and flavorful. This is definitely a "comfort" food ( one I would rather make in the winter on a cold day.
It's a keeper and one I'll be sure to make again.

I am a beginner cook (at age 52. I made these recipes and was pleased with the turn out. The house smelled so good while cooking and the taste was yummy. The family was very quiet at dinner as they were too busy eating to talk! Great Success!!!
