Ive made this twice this month. It's super easy and the kids really love it.
I double the recipe because my kids love it for a late lunch after school.

I'm giving this recipe 2 stars because of the bland flavors and the odd order of cooking. Onions are never thrown into already browned meat; instead, they should be sautéed first, adding the meat after the onions are soft. I'm also concerned about the raw egg yolk in the potatoes. There's no guarantee that the broiler heat will fully pasteurize that egg.
If you're a creative and careful cook you'll probably have fun with this recipe but you'll definitely want to make some tweaks.

I enjoyed this dish. I modified as noted by other reviewers by adding cheddar cheese to the potatoes and more worcestershire to the gravy. Even with the additions the dish lacked a bit of bold flavor. Will make again and try other additions. It was easy to make, but the clean up was alot. 3 pans/sauce dishes (one for pots, one for gravy and one for meat, and one casserole dish....

I never made shepherd's pie before this and I haven't made a different one since then. It is easy to make, the only thing was it a little bland for my taste, but that is an easy fix. I read some of the reviews and agree that adding garlic helps a lot and adding more Worcestershire sauce. My personal favorite condiment is Tabasco and if anyone else likes that flavor I recommend a splash on your serving!

This is a great easy shepherd's pie. I cut the recipe in half and it still fed my four family members. The changes to the recipe I made were to double the Worcestershire sauce and add a handful of cheddar to top the mashed potatoes. I used ground lamb which I highly recommend and also added corn to the mix. Next time I will add a couple cloves of garlic to the meat mix for more flavor and also maybe some mushrooms. So delicious!

Great cold weather comfort food. I add more carrots, sometimes mushrooms and don't use peas since I can't eat them. I add the flour right to the ground beef mixture, cook for a few minutes, then add the broth and extra worcestershire. No need for an extra pan. I also add a little shredded cheddar to the potatoes and bake it for 20 minutes or so.

this is great, with LAMB...don't find the taste is as good with ground beef
Going to try lamb cubes tonight with a left over leg of lamb, boneless. to make it more tender, may slow cook the lamb all day then add to the mix
Can also add cheese on top...
i also actually bake this in a ready made crust. It is awesome!
