My granddaughter was staying with me yesterday so we whipped up a batch. They were extremely easy to make. She doesn't like cherries so we just topped them with slivered almonds before baking them. Excellent! (The only thing I would change would be the amount of almond extract. It was too strong and had an aftertaste. For the number of cookies it made, I'd only use 1/4 tsp. next time.

for the cook who had trouble with these, there is another almond snowball cookie recipe in the food network database done by food network kitchens, which is very good. i was debating between doing this one by Rachel Ray, which by the way i almost always love her dishes, and the other one, but look for that in the database, and you will not be disappointed.

Light spongey treat with delicious cherry for sweetness. Easy to make and fun to give as gift. Rachel Ray can bake!

These are wonderful! They were super easy to make. I have made them with and without the cherries and almonds, and they are great both ways. I highly recommend them.
