These are the best breakfast sammies ever!!!! My husband and I crave them and make them all the time. They have so much flavor and are actually not bad for calorie counters like me. If you want to spice them up a little bit use the "spicy montreal steak seasoning". It is good. We have made them for family parties and work parties and every time we do everyone requests that we bring them for the next party. They are actually quite easy to make. But make sure that you use pure maple syrup. One time we tried making it with a cheep brand syrup and it did not turn out very well. We also make them go a little farther by making them into six patties instead of four. Even making them just that little bit smaller, they are still very filling, and add some hashbrowns or something on the side, and it is more than enough.

I was very surprised at how easy it was to make DELICIOUS (and relatively health-conscious homemade sausage. Breakfast for dinner rocks! Two helpings for picky DH along with requests to make this again soon. If you cut back on the butter for the English muffins, skip the cheese, and use EggBeaters, I bet this recipe will be just as amazing. I made it as written and it was heavenly!

    Rachel,
As a single Dad of two?I am always looking for new things to cook up and seem to turn to you a lot!! This recipe was a major hit and will be for a long time! I love breakfast for dinner and that?s what we had tonight. I have a few tweaks on the sausage but I have to say this will be a main course in my family from here on out. As a side I cut up some baby red potatoes tossed them in some EVOO, salt, pepper and dried rosemary and roasted them in the oven. This is our kind of comfort food. Thanks and keep them coming! Doug

there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the sausage. the only complaint i have is that she used sauteed onions on her show, so i added that to mine. however, over all, this is a fabulous recipe for breakfast sausage. i made it for my boyfriend and i one night for "brinner" (breakfast for dinner with an omelet that i just cut in half and put on it like a slice of cheese (but a slice of egg instead. i used regular 100% hamburger buns, 99% fat-free ground chicken, and eggbeaters so overall it was a healthy and DELICIOUS meal.

I have been making these since I first saw you make on TV. I now live in NC and have a place at the beach and when people are coming. I immediately make these and how many depends on how many people and how long we will be down there. I have had rave reviews every time. Some like with the muffin, so like without, but all get gone.
I go to friends for xmas eve and stay over for xmas day and I took these this year so we wouldn't have to do anything hard breakfast. Gonzo... you would think we went through the McDonald drive thru. And they haven't found this to upgrade their McGriddle Sandwich yet.

Thanks Rach... Been following since the 6o'clock news.

I have yet to make the complete sandwich, but the sausage patties have become a staple recipe with a few tweaks...I mix in a little pork sausage for extra flavor, and omit the nutmeg and grill seasoning (since I don't have any! The apples carmalize and it is delicious! I think the cheese might be overkill--I just have it with eggs and biscuits. Delicious!

I made this for a brunch with one of my bestest friends. She was taken by the flavors. I never knew how easy sausage this good was easy to make. The leftovers were divided. Her husband took them in his lunch for the week. He asked me how I made it? I told him I couldn't reveal my secret....Thanks Rachel!
