Was a hit with my family! The things I did a different was add a little fontina and parmesan to the cream sauce (I used the remainder to top the dish as directed. I just thought it would incorporate the cheese flavor better. I also used Italian sausage as others had suggested. We had some in the freezer left over from deer season. I will definitely make again. Comfort food!

The grocery was waiting on a meat delivery so I ended up using ground turkey. I live in a small town so I wasn't going to pay $11 for gruyere cheese so I used the cheese we had brought home from Italy. Used dry sage and nutmeg since it was not available to me fresh. This dish was marvelous even with all the substitutions. Only thing my husband added was some zing. Next time I will add some fresh red pepper to the cream sauce while it is simmering. Yummy! and a Keeper.

Fantastic! Definitely the ultimate comfort food. I added sauteed mushrooms to the veal and spinach mixture and it tastes wonderful. I used Gruyere cheese and when it baked, it had this nutty flavor, which I loved. This recipe is going into my archive for sure. A great dish to take to a pot luck dinner too!

I made this recipe with sweet italian sausage because the store had no ground veal. It was so delicious that we ate it for three days straight, and next time I make it I am going to use sausage again! A lot easier to make than it looks, and super delicious!

My husband is a vegetarian who doesn't eat vegetables. I used cannellini beans instead of veal and he LOVED it. He even ate the spinach!

This is a kid (and adult friendly dish that's always a hit. I've made it twice now and both times it turned out well and was well received. I usually have frozen spinach instead of fresh on hand and it works well. I also throw in some frozen peas which gives it a nice pop of sweetness.

Rachel...this was excellent and a big time hit with the family. I did change some things. Instead of Veal, I used Ground beef and Italian sausage...my family doesn't like spinach, so I added peas instead. We love Fontina Cheese and Parmesian, but I added Guyere Cheese along with the Fontina and Parmesian. I am a huge fan of Food Network. I never write comments, but when my husband who is very hard to please had 2 bowls, I had to let you know. Thank you so very much...this one is going in my recipe box.
