I prepare the meatballs basically as called...using less capers/onion and finely chopping them. My kids are picky eaters and don't like things mixed together. Once the meatballs are made, I BAKE them and freeze them for later. When needed, I will heat (ONE up in the microwave for about 30 sec. for a snack or for a quick pasta meal. If your kids do not like seeing green (capers in meatballs. Just use less capers and make sure you chopped it finely. I believe the most important ingredients are the capers and the allspice. Okay my kids don't like sauce on pasta...just butter and salt. I did try the Bucatini sauce...I liked it! My kids didn't try. Life saving meatballs ! Thank !

Couldn't find bucatini pasta or San Marzano tomatoes (wish I shopped where Rachel does, and for my taste, there was not enough spaghetti for the meatballs (and I am a meat eate, but it was all tasty, and lasted for several meals.

I'm not a huge fan of capers, so I was a little apprehensive about adding them, but I'm glad I did! They're not overpowering at all and the flavors of the meatball ingredients really melded well together. The sauce was outstanding! My daughter, who thinks she hates mushrooms, didn't even notice them in the sauce, and they added a great level of flavor. Definitely a keeper!

I am NOT a meatball fan (blah..., but when I saw rachael make them on tv, my mouth watered. I followed her recipe except left out the capers because I don't like em. The meatballs weren't much to look at (like on tv, but boy were they delicious! I only stuck with making the balls, and made my own pasta sauce, etc.
Quick and easy, lots of flavor.

These are very tasty, and I love that they are almost HUGE. I used angel hair (because I had it around the house instead of bucatini, and it worked just fine. Definitely use fresh sage if you can get it. There is a quite a bit of prep, but at least using a food processor to grate the onions makes that teary step a lot easier. With prep time and cook time, it took about 1hr and 15 min.

Thought this was a lot of work for the end result. I enjoyed the sauce, but my husband didn't like the meatballs at all.

This was a great new way to make a wonderful sauce. I've made the noodles many times but the meatballs only once. I'm just not a meatball person, I like it saucy.
