    For one this is a nasty version of a lovely SOUP. For another, what is stoup? Does she have to have a annoying catch phrase for everything?

    Family loved Monte Carlo Sandwiches, had 2 each. Did not make the Black Bean Stoup, the family had sour cream or butermilk ranch dressing on the top of the sandwich. I dipped my sandwich in mild salsa. Good way to enjoy a sandwich.

    Both the stoup and the sandwiches were excellent. These recipes are definite keepers.

    The beans were a little hard, but overall i have to say this was a really good meal! ;

    I think the beans would have been better if they had been cooked a lot longer, but that is easy to fix while you are cooking. tHis is defineately one really good recipe, and I recomend it to anyone that likes beans.

    For the "soup":
    Ray has never actually eaten black bean soup let alone made it before she threw this recipe together has she?. I have seen tastier things come out of my cat's butt. A properly made black bean soup can be a wonderful thing- and you are not going to find that here. If you follow this recipe you will get runny, lumpy "soup-type product" that resembles a true black bean soup only in the sense that it also contains black beans. Do yourself a favor and search this site for a recipe by Bobbie Flay, Emeril or any other real chef. If pressed for time get a can of Campbell's- great?- no, but certainly better then this.

    For the "Sammie"
    It is always nice to find a meal that makes a double whooper with cheese and a king sized order of onion rings look healthily and I can thank Retch...I man Raych for showing me the way.
    We should give her credit for telling us that we can find ham and cheese in the deli section of our regular ol' grocery store. I can't tell you what a relief it has been for me to finally know where to buy ham and cheese- I have been searching for them for years but never found them at my regular old hardware store, my regular old shoe store or the regular old Big Lots... All the wasted years when I could have just gone to the regular old deli! WOW! Rachael saved the day!!. And I had never thought of stuffing my french toast with it but that girl is just amazing!.

    Seriously if you eat this you should save your Lipitor bills and send them to Food Network it is the least they can do for you for allowing this sham of a 'cook' to call this healthy.

    I made both the soup and the sandwiches for friends last night. This is the trick: don't dip the sandwiches in the egg/milk batter, they will be too soggy. What you should do is spread the batter on the bread with a spatula just so that there is coverage for the pan. The soup and the sandwiches were to die for! Everyone loved them. The sandwiches melted in your mouth and the hot pepper jelly is now a staple in my fridge! Loved it!!!

    As Sandra would tell you, presentation is almost as important as taste. Well sometimes more! I served this Texas treat of a stoup in an old authentic cowboy boot!!! Just a few turns of the boot with some EVOO first so it won't soak the leather and you have a breathtaking tureen!! I served the stoup to my guests in old cans that the black beans came in. My neighbors are still talking about this (well at least the ones who still have lips left.

    Why do you people still not get it? Food Network airs this "cooking" show and then provides the recipe on line. It should not need all the adjustments some people say they make. Let's face it - this hag just throws this garbage together as fast as possible. These recipes are definitely not tested out by her or anyone at FN. If they were, we wouldn't see a ton of posts by fans who just loved it, but they tell you 4 or 5 changes they had to make. Or in some reviews, the fans give eachother tips on how to correct probles with the recipe and make it better. What a JOKE! You don't see this with chefs like Emeril, Giada, Mario, or Ina. And, BTW, I believe the proper wors is SOUP, for crying out loud! And sandwich, not sammie!
